April is National Poetry Month, which inspires our latest question. Do you have a favorite poem or poet? If so, tell us what they mean to you.

My favorite poet is Shel Silverstein. I like him because he was not afraid to write certian things, and his poems are funny and crazy. My favorite poem of his is "How Many, How Much," which was in THE LIGHT IN THE ATTIC. It's a really good poem.

One of my favorite poems is one my teacher read to us in English class a while ago. it is called "Shooting Baskets At Dusk." It seems like a basketball poem when you first read it, but then you read it over and over again ,thinking about each word, and it really isn't just about basketball, although on the outside it is. It might sound corny, but this poem was deep.

As April is National Poetry Month, I'd like to share one of my favorite poets. Edgar Allen Poe is probably my favorite poet of all time. He was different, unique, creative, and most of all, he stood out to me among all other poets I've learned about. His poems were somewhat like mine --- weird, creepy, daring to be different. That's my opinion of what he was trying to achieve and that's what I am mostly going for. Edgar Allen Poe was actually one of the first poets I'd ever heard, not counting Doctor Seuss. He has inspired me to let my emotions flow onto paper and give things bone-chilling twists. Poetry is one my most favorite hobbies and I'll never give it up. Edgar Allen Poe comes to mind every time I read over my poetry. Although my poetry may not be suitable for children under 13, I express my deepest, most awful thoughts and experiences. I may sound a little too explaintory, but I love my work and I want to be an amazing, authentic, realistic writer for teens when I grow up. Poetry rocks!

My favorite poet is Robert Frost, because he writes such meaningful poems that regular people can relate to. He also makes his poems make sense and easy to understand.
*****
My favorite poet is Karen Hesse. She wrote two free-verse books (that I know of), and I've read them a few times.
*****
I read "Mac Flecknoe" by John Dryden. It is extremely clever and funny. A very witty poem.
*****
My favorite poet is Emily Dickinson, mainly because her poetry opens my eyes to stuff around me that I hadn't really seen, or that I'd taken for granted.

My favorite poem is "The Road Not Taken" by Robert Frost. It means so much to me because it helps me make choices in my life. It speaks of a traveler taking the road that is more challenging and that leads to unexpected things, and that road is the one that i try to follow because it makes "all the diffrence."
*****
I love "The Convent Threshold" by Christina Rossetti. The rhymes make the long poem flow easily. My favorite part is the very beginning. "There's blood between us, love, my love" always stood out.
*****
I like Jack Prelutsky. Even though, his poems are short and kind of kid-ish, they are really funny! And they make sense.
*****
The poet Benjamin Zephaniah --- his ability to relate ideas is amazing, not to mention the poignancy with which he captures every issue that his poetry touches on. Although his work is not always tender (the gritty often combined with, or next to, some romanticised dream or image), it is this nature of ‘zero-intimidation’ that attracts me to his work; a form of encouragement that captures every teenage desire of rebellion and expression, his sense of rhythm perfectly reflects the attitude of many modern kids today.

My favorite poem is called "The Look" by Sara Teasdale. I even memorized it so that I could share it with others. The poem tells me how relationships aren't just about the physical things like kissing, because those things can be lost. Relationships thrive on feelings, and you can tell if someone cares about you just be how the look at you. "Strephon's kiss was lost in jest,
Robin's lost in play,
But the kiss in Colin's eyes
Haunts me night and day."

Well, I love Poetry. I am my favorite poet because it is my feelings expressed in my own way that makes me feel beautiful and my mind feel beautiful, I use poetry to express my feelings about everyday problems, big or small!!!

My favorite poet has to be Edgar Allan Poe. He is amazing, and he is the reason why I started to write short stories and everything. He was an amazing poet and author.

Yes, I have a favorite poem. Poems, to me, mean what life is really like. It shows hurt, pain, love, disgust, everything. That's what I love about them.

Maya Angulou is my favorite poet. She wrote the poem, "Phenomenal Woman". The poem makes me proud to be an African American full-figured young women. It showed me that I have something special in me.

My favorite peom is called "The Lady of Shalott". It was mentioned in A GREAT AND TERRIBLE BEAUTY, but I knew about it way before that. I've been a G/T (gifted and talented) student since fourth grade. In fifth grade, my G/T English class were given poems to read, which we had to write a report on. My friend Beoncia got "The Lady of Shalott" and I got "A Withering Willow" by Tammy Armstrong. Beoncia couldn't understand it, so she asked me to read it. I liked it so much that I convinced her to ask the teacher for a switch. She siad no, Beoncia and I switched anyways.
*****
"If" by Rudyard Kipling One of my English teachers made my entire class learn this poem, and I just LOVE it!
*****
I had to read a poem for a poetry contest at my school and it became one of my favorite poems. It is called "When You Are Old" by W. B. Yeats. It's about how life affects aging and death. It was an intricately written piece of poetry.
