They assigned books that kids don't want to read. If they want us teens to actually read the books instead of SparkNote it, then we should have books we want to read. Three books I would love to have on our reading list would be TWILIGHT, Harry Potter, and CITY OF BONES. The three of those are from amazing series and it gives you a little taste from the different supernatural worlds.

GONE WITH THE WIND --- it's a great book, the best Civil War novel I've ever read, but a lot of schools won't put it on there because it's considered a "romance"

Harry Potter --- All of these are great coming-of-age books, but they're not there because some people think they're demonic.

NIGHT --- I haven't seen this on any summer reading list I've looked at, which is a shame, because it's such a wonderful book. short, yes, but powerful.

THE DA VINCI CODE: haha, in a Catholic school, no way! But I love it.
SOLD: Another amazing, meaningful story. I think we need to read about this horrible form of slavery, but it's probably too risky to let the kids read it.
