I really liked:
The Westing Game by Ellen Raskin, a mystery book that's always exciting and you won't be able to put it down.
A Gift of Magic by Lois Duncan. Nancy Garret can read people's minds, make them do what she wants, and can see the future and past.
Chasing Vermeer by Blue Balliett, a book with codes, twists, and many people trying to save one of the world's most valuable paintings.

I LOVE The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants books by Ann Brashares. They are absolutely the bast books out there. Any girl who hasn't read these books should. They are about friendships and how strong they can be, with crazy twists, happy moments, and VERY sad moments (especially in the second book). So for anyone who hasn't read these books I HIGHLY recommended them.

I recommend My Heartbeat by Garret Freymann-Weyr. The narrator, a fourteen-year-old girl, has a crush on her brother's best friend, James. James and her brother, Link, seem to have more than a friendly relationship. Link refuses to admit that he is gay. James loves Link but likes girls too. It is a wonderful book about relationships and true feelings.

Boy Next Door, written by Meg Cabot is an excellent read for anyone who loves, romance, with a good side of humor. Written through e-mails between friends, Boy Next Door is a wonderful read for any girl. I give it a 9 out of 10.

Recently I read Fat Kid Rules the World by K.L. Going, and I couldn't put it down for a second ... I read it in one day. I read the book from front to back, and I'm going to read it again ... that's how good it was. I recommend this book to everyone --- teens and adults. It's funny, sad, and cool all wrapped in one book. I loved this book and I'm sure you will too. Get it --- you won't be disappointed.
And secondly I read Millicent Min, Girl Genius by Lisa Yee, about an 11-year-old girl who's a genius and is about to go to college. She has no friends, and when she finally meets one, she's scared that she'll lose her because she's so smart. So she tries to keep it from her. This book is witty, funny, and you never know what's going to happen next. I'll let you read the book to find out the ending, but I'm sure you will love this book just as much as I did. I give both these books 10's ... VERY GOOD READS!

I'm reading Gathering Blue by Lois Lowry. If anyone read her other book The Giver, I'd recommend picking up this one, which sort of follows up and has a lot to say about the rigidity of society.

For all of you ladies and gentlemen who have read What My Mother Doesn't Know by Sonya Sones, I KNOW you will ADORE this other book that she wrote called One of Those Hideous Books Where the Mother Dies. It is written in the form of a poem just like What My Mother Doesn't Know and is about a girl whose mother dies. She has to move all the way across the country to live with a dad she has never known or seen, except for in the movies. Her dad is a famous actor. When she first moves in with him, she resents him.

I just finished Crime and Punishment by Fyodor Dostoevsky. The beginning is kind of boring, but once I got past that, the book really got interesting. It's about this man Raskolnikov who committed a gruesome murder. I don't want to say anything else that'll give anything away, but it's very suspenseful.

AND LAST AND LEAST
Gingerbread by Rachel Cohn. 1 star.

I finished Life in the Fat Lane by Cherie Bennett. It is an amazing book describing a beauty queen's feelings as she gains weight because of a disease. You see how her superficial friends start to reject her and how her father disapproves of her weight gain. It is a book that you don't want to put down.
