WORD OF MOUTH

August 2005

Tell Us What You Are Reading...Find Out What Other Teens Are Reading.

This contest period's winner was Megz1003@hotmail.com, who received a copy of SLEEPING FRESHMEN NEVER LIE by David Lubar.

Leeyoonshin@aol.com
Maggie Now by Betty Smith. 4 stars.
Forever by Judy Blume. 4 stars.

ellenreiss32@hotmail.com
I just finished A Door Near Here by Heather Quarles and it was awesome!! I totally recommend it to everyone! Also, Tending to Grace by Kimberly Fusco is a great book and Night Hoops by Carl Deuker is really great. I recommend them all!

rockblackwoods@yahoo.com
Stoner and Spaz by Ron Koertge. 4 stars.
House of the Scorpions by Nancy Farmer. 5 stars.
Whale Talk by Chris Crutcher. 5 stars.
The Giver by Lois Lowry. 2 stars.

catherine_collison@yahoo.com
I just finished Empress Orchid by Anchee Min. I would highly recommend it to the more mature teen reader.

I also just finished Tall Cool One by Zoey Dean, from the A-List series (Beloved by ALL girls who enjoy casual gossipy books).

I just began reading The Messenger by Lois Lowry. I loved the other two books in this trio, Gathering Blue and The Giver, thus assuring my adoration of the book that ties the two together. Lois Lowry's talent shows through these novels by making you think about principles on a subconscious level.

shaz_88@bigblue.net.au
Right now I'm reading the Tomorrow series by John Marsden. Set in a time when Australia is invaded, a gang of teens are left to their own devices in the Australian bush after not being captured by the enemy through a stroke of good luck.

Another book worth looking at is The Power of One, or any book by Bryce Courtenay. A story based in South Africa, The Power of One illustrates the effect apartheid has on the cultures and peoples of South Africa. A truly inspiring read and one that will have you in tears...at least once.

pixie_stixs120@hotmail.com
I am going to recommend The Mediator series by Meg Cabot. They are amazing and I couldn't put them down. I give them 5 stars.

Goodcharlotte91G@aol.com
24 Girls in 7 Days by Alex Bradley.
About a guy who doesn't have a date for the prom and his friends set him up with 24 girls to date in 7 days before the prom. Hence the name 24 Girls in 7 Days.

shortiepie_06@yahoo.com
Then He Ate My Boy Entrancers by Louise Rennison (5 stars) is the sixth book in the Georgia Nicolson series. Although the humor is mostly towards girls, it's bound to make anyone laugh non-stop.

Mates, Dates, and Tempting Trouble (4 stars) and Mates, Dates, and Great Escapes (4 stars) are the newest books in the series by Cathy Hopkins. The series follows a group of best friends as they deal with love, laughs, and teen angst.

Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince (5 stars) by J.K. Rowling. Those who read the first five Harry Potter books may not like this one quite as much as some of the others. I myself didn't think it was quite a masterpiece as The Order of Phoenix. But it is still a wonderful book bound to keep the reader on the edge, wondering what comes next. Filled with unexpected twists and turns, the story of Harry Potter's sixth year at Hogwarts earned its five stars, even if it doesn't quite meet the standards set by the fifth book. Also, readers can expect more humor from the Weasley twins and more teen angst from Harry, Hermione, and Ron. All in all, it's a fantastic book that only J.K. Rowling could have written that good!

lovepeace4112000@yahoo.com
Fake I.D. by Walter Sorrells. 5 stars.
Chasity has been on the run with her mother, changing her name at every town, so that Chasity doesn't even know her real name. When her mom disappears, Chasity has six days to find her mother and her real name before it's too late. Great book.

bahamabreeze06@yahoo.com
I am currently reading The Body of Christopher Creed. It's one of the best thrillers I have read in a long time. This is the type of book that encourages you to read more. I love this book because it's so fullfilling and interesting that you just can't put it down. Way to go Carol Plum-Ucci!!! You wrote a fabulous book!

Clayvalley@insightbb.com
I completed Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince Monday at 12:00 a.m. and it was really good, but the ending made me really sad. Some other great books I would recommend are Hawksong, Snakecharm, Maximum Ride, Growing Wings, and any book in the Charmed series.

shortstuff964@excite.com
I would definitely recommend reading series books such as A Series of Unfortuante Events, A-List, The Clique, and Gossip Girl. These books are great for any teenagers, especially girls. I like to read series because you can always look forward to a new book coming out. It keeps you guessing and always excited!

icykat213@yahoo.com
Valiant by Holly Black. 4 1/2 stars.
Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince by J.K. Rowling. 5 stars.
The Year of Secret Assignments by Jacyln Moriarty. 5 stars.

baylorcooks@yahoo.com
The Boyfriend List by E. Lockhart. 4 stars.

madiegal921@msn.com
I just finished A Heart Divided by Cherie Bennett and Jeff Gottesfeld, and I really enjoyed the interesting format. (ie: Play format).

moose91@sbcglobal.net
The Da Vinci Code. The best book I have ever read!

littleraskle@hotmail.com
I just finished Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince, which was awesome! I recommend it to everyone! 5 stars baby.

meagan_berry@hotmail.com
I just finished Flowers in the Attic by V.C. Andrews. It was amazing. It wasn't something that I would have picked, but I've heard so much about it. It is one of my favorites now. You get into the children's lives and feel like you are trapped with them. I give it a 5 star rating.

melmelnpurple@yahoo.com
I am currently reading Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince. The drama and the emotions that are running in this, book 6 of the series, has really shown the true values of how actual teens are acting by adding a little touch of magic! I love this book just as much as I love the series! J.K. Rowling really knows how to put her work into detail! I would like to rate this book 5 stars! Everything is non-stop fun!

Usasuperstar92@aol.com
All American Girl by Meg Cabot
Teen Idol by Meg Cabot

These are both great books, but reading a book over the weekend I had found from the library was great too. It is called The Rise and Fall of a 10th Grade Social Climber by Lauren Mechling & Laura Moser. It was a great book, all teens are sure to love the adventures of Mimi trying to fit into the cool group (the coolies, so they call it in the book).

farfromarebel@yahoo.com
I would recommend anything written by Elizabeth Chandler --- she is my all-time favorite author. Dark Secrets: Don't Tell, my favorite book by her, is about a girl who finally goes back to the town where her mother died, and the same things start happening to her. The ending is totally unpredictable. 5 stars.

standardbred_91@hotmail.com
I am currently reading The Da Vinci Code. It is not quite what I expected --- it is better! I recommend it to people because from what I have read so far, it is a great book that displays historical knowledge.

kat@jeffbristol.com
I recently finished The Goddess of Yesterday by Caroline B. Cooney and let me tell you, that is one GOOD book. It's set in the days of Helen of Troy, and it actually kind of revolves around Helen herself. Just read the book if you want the rest of the details. I give it 5 stars.

fionat2000@hotmail.com
I just finished The Last Domino by Adam Meyer. It was a fantastic book about a teen being pushed to the edge. It explores the sensitive but serious issue of teen violence in a highly effective manner. 5 stars, and highly recommended.

Right now I am reading 10 Things to Do Before I Die by Daniel Ehrenhaft. It is pretty good so far; the book is written in a somewhat flippant manner, although the subject matter is supposed to be quite serious. I think that's the appeal of it, though. The main character, Ted Burger, is really sarcastic and wry, and I like that. From what I have read so far, I would give it 4 1/2 stars.

pixie_stixs120@hotmail.com
I recommend the Sweep series by Cate Tiernan. They are amazing and you can't put them down. 5 stars.

hip_hop_babe9@hotmail.com
I'm reading Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince, and I just have to say that I cried and cried and cried. I don't want to spoil it for anyone, but it is the saddest and most upsetting book of Harry Potter I've read so far.

lilmissangel11@comcast.net
I am currently reading the 6th Harry Potter book and it is tremendously good. Some points are dull, but overall the book is making up for itself. All books have dull points anyways.

candy_lover_100@ahoo.com
I would like to recommend The Giver by Lois Lowry. I think that this is a great book because it really gave me an insight on how mean people could actually be. I also learned a lot from this book, mostly on how people act in different situations.

weeping_willow08@msn.com
The Rise and Fall of a 10th Grade Social Climber

boyes1@peoplepc.com
I have reread Eragon by Christopher Paolini when I went to Walker, Minnesota and I have finished Lirael by Garth Nix just recently. I am now reading Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince by J.K. Rowling. I would recommend anyone who has read the books I mentioned to read all of them in the series. Great books.

a.verity@gmail.com
Od Magic by Patricia A. McKillip.
This book is fantastic. McKillip has such an incredible command of the English language, and her writing flows seamlessly from page to page. It is mainly the story of a gardener, Brenden Vetch, who seems to possess more than just a green thumb. A great deal of the mystery and action takes place in the magical Twilight Quarter, which sleeps by day and comes alive only at night.

I'm halfway into this book, and already I think that this is definitely a MUST READ.

Bryden4h@aol.com
I am reading When Character Was King by Peggy Noonan. I think that it's a brilliant book!

band_girl07@yahoo.com
The Perfect Man. 4 stars.
The Surprise Party by R.L. Stine. 3 stars.
The Dating Game. 5 stars.
Nobody's Perfect. 5 stars.

foreverdolphins7@aol.com
I just finished reading Girl With a Pearl Earring by Tracy Chevalier. It's really good and easy to understand. I also finished Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince. The best book ever!

BlindlyBookish@aol.com
Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince. 5 stars!

beckariah_zeus16@yahoo.com
Right now I'm reading Cut. It's really powerful and hard to put down.

sharon_nepton@yahoo.com
This Lullaby by Sarah Dessen. 5 stars.
Really provoking story of love and friendship.

rockblackwoods@yahoo.com
I'm currently reading A Room on Lorelei Street, an absolute page-turner. 4 stars.

bekkabrown@yahoo.com
I am currently reading Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince and Eragon to get ready for Eldest.

heartobsession@yahoo.co.uk
I am re-reading the Mediator series by Jenny Carroll (a.k.a. Meg Cabot). I would give it the highest score imaginable --- it's that good.

h_golightly19@yahoo.com
Right now I'm reading Hunter's Moon by O.R. Melling. The story is very fast-paced and exciting as cousins Gwen and Findabhair search for faeries across Ireland.

bella.writer@gmail.com
I've just finished reading Dreamland by Sarah Dessen. It was so good, upfront and easy to relate to. I love it. I finished it in less than a day.

Anonymous
I just finished a book called Tropical Kiss by Jan Coffey. It was kind of a disappointment. I read it and I immediately liked the little romance between Cyrus and Morgan. The conflict was at the very end of the book and it was very unbelievable. The two got kidnapped and it was just really stupid. The author could've got way more creative with the book.

emilyofmystery@gmail.com
I just finished The Boyfriend List by E. Lockhart. I started it expecting a typical, canned, same-old-same-old teen book, but it was actually fresh, original, and very VERY funny.

daniellehowells@hotmail.com
I've just finished reading Boy Meets Boy by David Levithan. All I can say is "wow." It is an amazing love story that isn't necessarily just for gay, lesbian or bisexual people, but for every teenager out there. It's about a boy living in a world where being gay is widely accepted, and I particularly loved the way his parents were so accepting as well as his friends.

cherryblossomsakura2111@hotmail.com
I loved the 6th Harry Potter book. It's made me want to go back and re-read the first five. I just finished The Time Traveler's Wife and that was PRETTY good. I'm getting started on Sarah Dessen's The Truth About Forever.

poolangel1@yahoo.com
I'm reading The Lovely Bones by Alice Sebold. This book is on my reading list for Freshman year. The Lovely Bones is about a young girl whose neighbor lures her in to his grasp. She is raped and brutally murdered, then she goes up into heaven, and for years she watches her family shed their tears as they try to figure out who killed her.

I give this book 5 stars because it teaches a lesson to all teens and children to be careful, because situations like these do happen, and this book brings you to the reality of what families go through when things like this happen. I love this book, and I'll recommend it to anyone who is interested in a good novel.

katlyn_underwood@hotmail.com
I'm reading Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince. It's a really good book so far, and I rate it a 4.

leeleegerl2@hotmail.com
The Principles of Love by Emily Franklin. Really fun new series, can't wait for the next one.

The Truth About Forever
by Sarah Dessen and Prep by Curtis Sittenfeld are also good books!

zetta_rocks@yahoo.com
I recommend Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince. I finished the day after I got it.

allixrose@yahoo.com
I am currently reading (like millions of other people in the world) Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince. It is by far my favorite Harry Potter book to date.

mrazchik14@yahoo.com
I love The Insiders series by J. Minter. I think it's very clever and I can't wait to read the second book!

mrazchik14@yahoo.com
I loved Prep by Curtis Sittenfeld. The description was phenomenal and I really can relate to the main character, Lee. You really go inside the world of rich people!

Dramaqueen00701@yahoo.com
Right now I am reading The Princess Diaries by Meg Cabot. I'm almost done with it, and its a great book. I can't wait to read the sequels!!!!!!

x0xlucky7xox@aol.com
All the Gossip Girl books by Meg Cabot! They're so beyond! 5 stars.
Bergdorf Blondes by Plum Sykes. 5 stars.
The A-List series by Zoey Dean. 5 stars.
The Clique series by Lisi Harrison. 5 stars.
The Insiders series by J. Minter. 5 stars.

I looooooove trashy teen novels as you can see, but they're really good. Feel free to e-mail/IM me about any good books you've read.

stassy90@yahoo.com
Right now, I'm reading The Lord of the Rings. I know, I know, you're probably wondering why the heck am I recommending this book if everyone in the world already read it? Well my dears, I have a newsflash: THIS ISN'T THE FIRST TIME I READ THIS!! No, really. Every single time I read it, I discover something new. It's a very good book, and I must say: it's a shame Tolkien died! He was a great writer. So this is my advice: read LOTR again! You won't regret or waste time, trust me. Or Hobbit, or anything Tolkien wrote, it's equally interesting. And you discover a new magical creature every time. Read it, and if you haven't, what are you waiting for???!!

seekerofknowledge23@comcast.net
Inkheart by Cornelia Funke

graceful8977@yahoo.com
I am currently reading the 6th Harry Potter book: Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince. J.K. Rowling is a really great writer. All of the books in this series are well written and just wonderful reads.

futurestar10488@yahoo.com
I'm reading The Au Pairs by Melissa de la Cruz. It's a great book, hard to put down. Not a dull moment. I cant wait to read the second one!

anabelle_elle@yahoo.com
I highly recommend The Hobbit! Even if you read it, read it again. 5 stars, definitely!!!

hales_luvs_u@hotmail.com
David Belbin is a great author. He makes you feel like you're in the book. I was hooked after the first page of Denial, I couldn't put it down.

helium_hamster@hotmail.com
Gossip Girl: All I Want Is Everything by Meg Cabot.
A look into the world of the rich and beautiful. It's an awesome book for anyone who loves chick flick books.

unreal_trust@hotmail.com
I just finished The Da Vinci Code and let me tell you, it was AMAZING! Holy cow! Every chapter ended with a cliffhanger and I finished reading it in three days. I must say, though, that at some points I had to sit with a dictionary to understand what I was reading. But 5 stars nonetheless!

I am just starting Rainbow High by Alex Sanchez. The previous one, Rainbow Boys, was so good. It gave you an inside look of the struggles and hardships that teenage guys go through when they are gay. Although I couldn't relate, it was really interesting to read. 5 stars as well.

cute_soccer_chicka333@yahoo.com
Every Harry Potter book is great. I can read every one of them more than 10 times each. The 6th one is the all-time best --- 100 out of 5 stars!

shkruger@hotmail.com
Lucky T by Kate Brian is a good, relaxing summer read. 4 stars.

Megz1003@hotmail.com
I am reading Petals in the Ashes by Mary Hooper. It is the sequel to At the Sign of the Sugared Plum and is fantastic. I would definitely recommend reading both of these books, as well as anything else by Mary Hooper.

Right now I've really gotten into Laurie Faria Stolarz books. There's Blue is for Nightmares, White is for Magic, Silver is for Secrets, and coming out soon is Red is for Rememberance. Blue is for Nightmares is about a girl named Stacy who starts having nightmares that her best friend Drea is going to be kidnapped. White is for Magic takes place a year later when she starts having nightmares again, but this time there's also another guy who's having nightmares about her dying. I haven't read Silver is for Secrets yet, but I have a feeling it's going to be just as good.

cinderella9190@yahoo.com
I just finished reading Gossip Girl: You're the One That I Want and am going to start Gossip Girl: Nobody Does It Better. I love these books and can't stop reading them!

Pt060488@yahoo.com
You Don't Know Me by David Klass

secret_bear420@msn.com
What My Mother Doesn't Know by Sonya Sones. 4 stars.

Singing1988@aol.com
I read Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince by J.K. Rowling, and I read Teen Idol by Meg Cabot again. I'm also going to read All-American Girl by Meg Cabot again, and then I'm going to buy the second All-American Girl and read that. These books are all great and every girl should read Meg Cabot's books.

cecilsaidhi2u@gmail.com
I am currently reading Stormbreaker by Anthony Horowitz. It's about this boy named Alex Rider, who finds out that his dead uncle, Ian Rider, was working for one of the secret organizations (like FBI or CIA) and was killed during a mission.

After discovering the shocking truth, Alex finds himself an undercover agent working for the same organization his uncle worked for. It's really exciting and SO GOOD! If you like adventurous, exciting, a bit-of-suspense kind of books, this book is made just for you! Got to read it!

purpalicious_gurl@hotmail.com
I was reading the sequel to All-American Girl by Meg Cabot, which is called Ready or Not. It's pretty good, hilarious...

babieecakes01@yahoo.com
I'm currently reading Son of the Mob: Hollywood Hustle by Gordon Korman, the sequel to Korman's Son of the Mob. The book is a follow-up on Vincent Luca's life, son of the ultimate mobster, Anthony Luca. However, Vincent wasn't fit for "The Life," more specifically the life of a gangster, like his father, brother, and many, many uncles. He moves to Hollywood with his girlfriend, Kendra Bightly --- daughter of "Agent Bite-Me," an FBI agent who just happens to watch the Lucas' every move, and listen to their every word in their camera-infested house. Thinking that he's finally gotten away from "The Life" by moving as far away from it as possible, Vincent has yet to learn that he can't get rid of his Soprano-like family and their mafia ways. I give Gordon Korman's Son of the Mob: Hollywood Hustle 5 stars, and 5 stars to the prequel, Son of the Mob, as well.

happygirl173@hotmail.com
The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants by Ann Brashares

hollijaguar@yahoo.com
The Boyfriend List. It is very good so far, I can't wait to see how it ends.

light_and_dark15@hotmail.com
I'm reading the Georgia Nicolson series and The Dating Game series. I absolutely love both series and I can't wait for the next books! Both series are awesome. I give both 5 out of 5 stars!

hevski_44@hotmail.com
I'm reading ... And That's When It Fell Off In My Hand by Louise Rennison. I think it's a great book and it's hilarious; my parents think I'm bonkers because of my sudden outbursts of laughter! I'm also reading through a sixty-seven page story that I made up myself. I'm hoping to be an author when I'm a bit older. I'm going to try to get my stories published when I'm sixteen, so that's in about four years ...

I'm about to read Girl, 16, Absolute Torture again as well. Sadly, my Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince book was confiscated a few days after I finished reading it. I had been naughty.

darlings_angel@hotmail.com
I have just finished reading Dare, Truth or Promise by Paula Boock. It is a powerful story about two 17-years-olds who are finding out who they really are. They become the best of friends and fall in love with each other. All hell breaks loose when Louie's mother finds out, and their relationship is really put to the test to find out if it is true love or not. It is a story about first love, friendships and discovering who they really are.

lilyflower@gmail.com
The Principles of Love series by Emily Franklin is awesome.

tavewave@localnet.com
I just finished reading The Boston Jane books. The books are: Boston Jane: An Adventure, Boston Jane: Wilderness Days, and Boston Jane: The Claim. These books tell the tale of Jane Peck, a 16-year-old who leaves her home in Pennsylvania to go into "the wild" to marry her finance, William. When she finds William already married, she stays in "Indian" territory and creates a new life for herself. All of them are by Jennifer L. Holm. I give these books 5 out of 5 stars!

augustmoon@comcast.net
I recommend All-American Girl by Meg Cabot. It is a really great book...it is funny, you can relate to the characters, and it really keeps your interest. It is amazing!!

xgosniffglue@hotmail.com
Right now I'm reading Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince. I got it about two days ago and I'm almost done with it. It definitely shows a change between the Harry we met in his first year at Hogwarts to the Harry we know now. Also, to add just a bit of the real world into the book, there are even crushes now. Some shippers may not particularly be too thrilled with the newfound relationships, but I have to say I am.

shereese9@hotmail.com
Right now I am reading Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix. I don't know for now, but I will love the book I'm sure.

amazulo123@msn.com
Goddess of Yesterday by Caroline B. Cooney gets 3 1/2 stars. It's a great book featuring Helen of Troy, but shows the terrible side of beauty through the eyes of Anaxandra (daughter of a pirate, former hostage that lost her value, and later impersonates a dead princess) but the story ends before the fighting has truly begun.

leesh_rox@hotmail.com
I would recommend The Whole Business with Kiffo and the Pitbull by Barry Jonsberg. This is a hilarious book with many laugh-out-loud moments. It is well written and you really get to know the characters, which makes the ending really sad. It will make you laugh and cry at the same time. Excellent. 5 stars.

ghirliegirl@msn.com
I just finished White Oleander by Janet Fitch. It is an awesome book. As most books are, it's way better than the movie. The movie doesn't show what the main character is thinking but the book does it all. You know what the character is thinking and you may not think that there is an ending, but you'll be surprised at what the ending is.

nerdlovercl@yahoo.com
I just finished reading The Year of Secret Assignments by Jaclyn Moriarty. It is the riveting tale of three best friends and a pen pal program going on between their private school and the rival high school. They find love, betrayal, and a mock court case. Seriously, this book is pretty good. I'd give it 4 1/2 out of 5. It is a bit over the top but I'd recommend it.

Anonymous
I would have to recommend The Wind Blows Backward by Mary Downing Hahn. I'm not sure when this was published, but it's a really great book. I'm just waiting for the movie! 5 stars.

Also, in general, anything by Nicholas Sparks is always worth a read!

wildrose682@yahoo.com
I finally finished Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince. It took me forever because I decided to reread The Order of the Phoenix. It was definitely the most serious and sad book so far. I wont spoil it for anyone, but if you haven't read it yet, get going!!

I also just finished I Am Not Esther, which was about a girl forced to live with her uncle in a seriously strict religious cult. It was also a very good book --- it reminded me of Leaving Fishers a little bit.

desireeh124@yahoo.com
Currently I am reading lots of R. A. Salvatore's books! He's a very, very good author. A series that most read is about Drizzt Do'Urden (the first trilogy is called the Dark Elf Trilogy). It has tons of descriptions about fighting with swords, but the fighting and the battle tactics don't overshadow the book at all!

DiaBeTeS@cwdmail.com
I'm reading All the Pretty Horses by Cormac McCarthy. Very good book.

Anonymous
My Sister's Keeper by Jodi Picoult. 4 stars. Really good.

science35@cox.net
I am now reading a wonderful and eye-opening book, Geeks: How Two Lost Boys Rode The Internet Out of Idaho by Jon Katz. If anyone has ever felt alone or has spent way too much time online, than this is the book for you. It wins 5 stars for its look into the lives of two "geeks" and how they cope with life. Everyone, everywhere should read this book.

happyland@cox.net
ttyl by Lauren Myracle.
In this novel, three girls are trying to prove that high school relationships can survive, until Angela gets thrown into the dumps by a worthless boy, and Zoe is not listening to what her friends have to say about her pervert teacher Mr. H. But every single girl is not sure they can survive the heat of high school when Maddie does something that has the whole school talking.

happyland@cox.net
Currently, I am reading all of the books by Ann Brashares. Each one is a treasure to me and I wish it were never-ending.

I'm reading Angels in Pink. It's good and the characters are really realistic. I'm also reading the third Harry Potter book, but most people have already read those. And I'm also reading 1984 for school; it's good as well.

I'm currently reading The Fountainhead by Ayn Rand. If anyone likes books about philosophy then this book is made just for you!

I started ready the manga series, Chobits, by CLAMP and it is excellent. Definitely my all-time favorite series. It's a mix of romance and a tiny bit of sci-fi. I recommend it to everyone, even beginner manga readers.

ttyl is the book I'm reading right now. I would rate it 4 stars because it is good and funny, but somewhat hard to understand. It's written completely in IMs, so it gets kind of confusing. But it's really good and funny!

The Giver by Lois Lowry.
This is an excellent book for all ages. It is told in a utopian society. It has such emotion that I've cried every time I've read it.

A College of Magics by Caroline Stevermer.
This is an intricate story of a girl sent away to a college where magic is taught. She only stays there for a bit though, for later she sets off on a thrilling chase to claim what is hers.

Down a Dark Hall by Lois Duncan.
This book is not your average scary story. Though you may think of ghosts and goblins at first glance, what you really have is a deep story of the great minds of the past. It is a thrilling story that takes you on a breathtaking ride of the doomed.

I just finished reading The Undomestic Goddess by Sophie Kinsella. It was one of her best books and I couldn't put it down! I would give it 4 stars. I am also reading The Boy Next Door by Meg Cabot. It is a very intriguing story about an ordinary girl who falls in love with a guy who is pretending to be someone else. I would give this book 3 1/2 stars.

I just finished reading Speak, which was amazing. It's about a girl who hides a secret from everybody she knows, and because of it is unwanted and becomes an outcast. It is really inspiring and I couldn't put it down.

markstevenj@yahoo.com
I'm reading In the Service of Dragons by Robert Stanek. If you like fantasy, mystery or action, you'll like it. Don't wait for the movie, because The Kingdoms and the Elves of the Reaches is four books and they are doing those first, so it'll be a long, long time.

sum41_892003@yahoo.com
I just finished At the Sign of the Naked Waiter by Amy Herrick. Definitely one of the best books I've ever read. A coming-of-age story with a dash of magic, but enough reality to be believable.

Rkikibabe@aol.com
Faith of the Forgotten, book one of the Foundation of Hope Trilogy, by Leathel Grody. This is one of the best books I've read in a while. Once I started, I didn't want to put it down. The characters, as well as the storyline, are amazing and I can't wait until the next book comes out. I recommend this book highly.

I LOVE to read, and have a couple of things as a list:

I am reading a couple of classics like Great Expectations by Charles Dickens and 1984 by George Orwell, which were recommended by my dad and am glad he did! I am buying the entire series of Discworld by Terry Pratchet as I can because I think they are some of the best books EVER! I haven't yet gotten the 6th Harry Potter book or the third Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants yet, because I am waiting to read them with my grandma, for she introduced me to them.

I just finished The Abhorsen trilogy by Garth Nix yesterday, and am hoping to find more. I am reading all of what my small town library owns of the Xanth series, and I am slowly but surely working my way through The Silmarillion by J.R.R. Tolkien, and I have a couple of books I have to read soon as an assignment (Grand Opening by Jon Hassler and The Days of Rondo by Evelyn Fairbanks, which I think are really great coming of age stories), and Watership Down is one that I hope to get to when I get time, since my uncle bought it for me.

As you can see I love to read, and I wouldn't have told you about any of these books if they didn't all get 2 thumbs up! (And I am just plain lucky that I have nothing better to do than read my way through summer!)

summersxdreams@netscape.net
I am just finishing reading the third Clique book, Revenge of the Wanabees. It is a great book. It really tells the story of some people in my school, and other people. I recommend it to many girls, ages 11-13.

#1 read of the summer (and this year) is In the Service of Dragons by Robert Stanek. I never read a book so fast or read it over and over and over too.
