Sandpiper by Ellen Wittlinger
Rating: 5 Stars
I just finished reading this book. It is about a girl named Sandpiper. Her mother is getting married and Sandpiper doesn't like the guy. She has a younger sister named Daisy who thinks she is older when she really isn't. Sandpiper doesn't have friends. She is known around school as the girl who goes out with a lot of guys and does 'things' with them. She ends up meeting this boy who totally understands her.

I really liked this book because I can relate to the main character. She goes through a lot of hard situations.

Drowning Anna by Sue Mayfield

This is a very interesting book because some people actually feel the need to kill themselves over bullies who don't know that they are bullies. Some people just go into a deep depression and others want to be physically hurt.

Rating: 5 Stars
It's the most interesting story I've ever read!! It's a very powerful novel!!

Jenna
Shattered Mirror by Amelia Atwater Rhodes
Rating: 5 Stars
This book deserves way more than 5 stars but for right now, that's all it is getting. This book is about a witch/vampire hunter who moves to a new school, where she befriends a vampire. This isn't supposed to happen, so she breaks the friendship and pays the price for it. It's unexplainable, but this book is fantastic.

AA

Karen aka Anime, Manga freak and bookworm
The Boyfriend List by E. Lockhart
Rating: 5 Stars
I really like this book!! Even though I haven't finished it yet, it really sucks you in the story. The book is about a girl who has panic attacks and has appointments with a shrink, aka counselor, for them. She has to write a list about all her boyfriends, boys who liked her, boys who she kissed, boys who she had crushes on, and boys who she had conversations with. This is a must- read!!

Rating: 5 Stars
I was never a huge fan of vampire tales. I found this book to be quite wonderful. It's definitely a book I would recommend to friends.

Anika
Hush by Jacqueline Woodson
Rating: 5 Stars
HUSH was an incredibly touching book about the main character, Toswiah's, troubles and heart-felt feelings about moving from her beloved home in Denver, Colorado, because of her father testifying in a murder trial. In this book, Toswiah pours out her spirited, strong-willed feelings, her anger, and overwhelming sadness of leaving behind and removing every trace of her past life. This book is delivered first-person, which makes it even more worthwhile and realistic. I give this book 5 stars because it just melted my heart and even made me cry --- as I could actually feel the pain and unhappiness the main character was going through. The plot of the story and the way the book was written got me pondering over the main character's situation, realizing that everything you've known, loved, and everything that you've always taken granted of, could disappear in just a second, a flash, a cut of a play.

They ask the Underlanders to help them get out, and discover that they must go on a quest to save everyone. It was very interesting. There is a sequel to it also, you must check it out!

Briar Rose by Jane Yolen
Rating: 5 Stars
This is a very moving story about a girl discovering her grandmother's past, as well as her own. It's a heartbreaking tale that, at the same time, is also heartwarming with a little romance. This is a must read for people who not only enjoy reading about fairy tales, per se, but also want to learn more about the Holocaust.

The Second Summer of the Sisterhood by Ann Brashares
Rating: 5 Stars
I've read the first book and have seen the first movie and I just loved them so much that I've decided to read the second book and will continue by reading the third. If you liked THE SISTERHOOD OF THE TRAVELING PANTS book or movie, you should read the second. It is by far the BEST book I have ever read.

Cirque Du Freak Series by Darren Shan
Rating: 5 Stars
The best series ever! You can't put them down!!

Ana_lisa
Cinderella 2000 by Mavis Jukes
Rating: 4 Stars
This book is pretty good for a Cinderella retelling. That is the reason that it is a bit of a stereotype. I like the "fairy grandmother," and the mean twin stepsisters are pretty realistic!

Stephen J.
Funny Little Monkey by Andrew Auseon
Rating: 4 Stars
This is a book I would quickly recommend to boys and girls 14 and up. Auseon does a fantastic job at conveying the inward struggles of Arty Moore and the twists and turns he experiences. After reading FUNNY LITTLE MONKEY, I can't help hoping for more Auseon novels to come out.

Happy Reading!

Mates, Dates, Series by Cathy Hopkins
Rating: 5 Stars
These books are amazing! I have followed the series since the first book, and have been hooked ever since. Although I do read really insightful books, the Mates, Dates Series is a great read, about four best friend's lives, the conflicts they face, and the great times they have. It is definitely a must-read! It allows you to take a break from all that heavy reading.

Rating: 5 Stars
I just loved this book. It's great! Both children and adults can read it. When I first read it, it was amazing and I couldn't put the book back down; it was so awesome that I just had to keep reading it. If you like a little adventure and if you have an open mind, then you will love the book as much as I do! Also the sequel to MAXIMUM RIDE comes out spring 2006. They're also making a movie out of this book, so I'm looking forward to those and I hope you will too.

HUNTER'S MOON is crazy!!! It's so different from other books I have read, yet it's the best!! I love books that deal with fairies and mystical creatures.

Cindy
Perfect by Natasha Friend
Rating: 4 Stars
This book is a good thing. People have these issues in real life. I do, and I am proud that someone would write about it. I will not keep this private or locked away. It is something that needs to be talked about. It is a real illness just like cancer. People should get help for the problem. This is help, and recovery can happen. This book does not sound like me and that is why I give it a four. I think there are better books about eating disorders.

Moi
This Lullaby by Sarah Dessen

Chelsea
One of Those Hideous Books Where the Mother Dies by Sonya Sones
Rating: 4 Stars
This book has an interesting combo of twists and romances. What happens when a small town girl goes to live with her famous superstar father when he mother dies? Maybe such things like living next to Cameron Diaz and going to school with celebrity children. You have got to read this book!

Angel
Huckleberry Finn by Mark Twain
Rating: 3 Stars
This book had some good sections, and places that were funny and interesting. But what I found mostly throughout the novel was that it was quite boring. I fell asleep a few times trying to finish just one chapter. Also, the dialect used in this book can get very confusing. I had to keep a dictionary with me at all times when I was reading this book. Overall, it was alright, but it was hard for me to read. I would only recommend it to very advanced readers.

Grace

Annie
Son of the Mob by Gordon Korman
Rating: 5 Stars
This book is humorous in ways that we can relate to, except the whole being the Prince of the Mafia thing.

Vince Luca, the son of Mob Boss Anthony Luca, takes you through his senior year in high school, and describes the pains, and sometimes small pleasures, that come with being a son of the mob. Being in high school, of course, one of his main priorities is to get girls: something that isn't so easy when basically everyone fears your father. Soon, though, he meets Kendra Bightly, a girl who doesn't know about the Lucas (thank God). Here's the twist --- her father is the FBI agent who really wants to put Vince's father behind bars. With real characters and teenage humor of epic proportions --- I caught myself laughing out loud at some parts! --- SON OF THE MOB by Gordon Korman is a book I would delightfully recommend to anyone who enjoys a few good laughs and likes a great plot.

Alisha
House Of Leaves by Mark Z. Danielewski
Rating: 4 Stars
I have not quite finished this book but it is by far one of the best books I've read. I'd say it's one of the top 3. The book is about a house and the hallway that apears out of nowhere --- the exploration of the house, as well as a man's life and how he came accross a book about a house with a hallway that apeared out of nowhere. It's all very confusing but if you give it a chance, you'll understand. The book is written in an unusual way that I can't realy explain, but if you just flip through the pages you'll see what I mean. This book is kind of hard to find, so good luck. But, it's worth it. This is the kind of book that will change your life and how you see the world!

This book will bring out the best and the worst in you. I would recommend it to anyone and everyone, guys and girls.

The Scarlet Letter by Nathaniel Hawthorne
Rating: 4 Stars
Ok, so maybe I HAVE to read this for school. In all honesty though, I find that I'm enjoying the dark, intense, and mysterious atmosphere of the book. If you can endure Mr. Hawthorne's fanciful writing, than you'll probably find it enjoyable too. If not, well, I suppose it'll come along someday on your school's reading agenda...:>)

Aubrey
Teach Me by R.A. Nelson
Rating: 5 Stars
This book, TEACH ME, really taught me. It let me know that there are some good looking older males out there, and a lot of them would act just as this teacher did to this student. In my opinion, I say if you are going to admire, admire from afar. Don't pursue something you know will only work out for a few days, and then leave you in a pile of hurt crumpled leaves. A lot of teachers picked up my book and thought that it was inappropriate for school; but when I finished it, I told them and a few of them went and started reading it themselves. It is one of those books that ou can't put down once you start reading it. I started finished it within two hours.

LoveSick by Jack Coburn
Rating: 4 Stars
I really enjoyed it, but the end was too short and the beginning was too long. But, I still loved it and once I got into it, I couldn't put it down.

Maria
Bad Girlz by Shannon Holmes
Rating: 4 Stars
This is a bit explicit, but it's a good book about reality. It tells the story of a girl in the struggle of life with an unsupportive family --- a subject that many people can relate to.

How I Live Now by Meg Rosoff
Rating: 5 Stars
This is a briliant book and I enjoyed it loads.

Kaltia
The Goose Girl by Shannon Hale
Rating: 5 Stars
This book is almost 500 pages long and I read it in a couple of hours. I couldn't put it down. I didn't do my homework, eat dinner, or sleep until I had finished this book. If you're into royalty, political intrigue, romance, and action I suggest that you pick up this book and give it a try. You won't be disappointed!

Jess D
Hard Love by Ellen Wittlinger
Rating: 5 Stars
I honestly just loved this book. It kept my interest all the way through. It's about a teenage boy who isn't really happy per se, and he meets a girl whom he begins to "love." She's a lesbian and totally comfortable in her own skin. The book is by no means a love story. It's just a great book that you need to check out for yourself.

The Three Musketeers by Alexander Dumas

Awesome book!

To Kill A Mockingbird by Harper Lee
Rating: 4 Stars
I would recommened this book to anyone who loves to read. Many people may have heard that this book is read in school alot, so why bother reading it now? But, reading this book again and again makes hidden details appear. It all starts with the summer Jem and Scout meet Dill. Summers after that, they try to make Boo Radley come out, and grow up. Part of their growing up is due to their father Atticus's new trial. Harper mixes friends and family in a fasinating novel.

The It-Girl by Cecily Von Ziegesar
Rating: 4 Stars
I have only read a couple of chapters of THE IT GIRL, but I have just been wanted to read more and more. I love nearly all books I can get my hands on.

Kristin
Daughters Of Eve by Lois Duncan
Rating: 4 Stars
I love her books!! DAUGHTERS OF EVE is good so far, but I just don't like the way it jumps from character to character.

Melodie
Gathering Blue by Lois Lowry
Rating: 4 Stars
This was a good book, but the only problem was that I read it too fast. Also, it doesn't seem like she solves any problems at the end of the book. She just thinks about it.

Tiffany
Timeless Love by Judith O'Brien
Rating: 5 Stars
This book gave me a new way of looking at the Tudor family, and most of all, historical fiction.

Alana
Childhood's End by Arthur C. Clarke
Rating: 4 Stars
This is probably one of the best books I've ever read. Mysterious ships showed up all over the world, and the world just accepts them. Is there a reason for this? Is this reason good? Or bad? Sometimes it was a little hard to follow, but it's a great book.

Nettle Barnes
A Great and Terrible Beauty by Libba Bray
Rating: 5 Stars
A GREAT AND TERRIBLE BEAUTY is a YA Victorian fantasy, with elements of coming-of-age worked in beautifully. The restrictions and guidlines of Victorian England and their effect on the lives of four young women mesh with the discovery of a secret --- and dangerous --- magic, as well as a secret from the past.

This book is rich, compelling, and fabulous, and I can't wait to get my hands on the sequel, REBEL ANGELS!

Big Mouth and Ugly Girl by Joyce Carol Oates
Rating: 4 Stars
I really loved this book. It captured my mind in the very first pages. It's really interesting and talks about two different people, Ursula and Matt.

Anne Frank: The Diary of a Young Girl by Anne Frank
Rating: 5 Stars
'Who would want to read a diary of a 13-year-old girl?' you think to yourself before you read this book. 'I'm not interested in the Holocaust,' says another. Anne Frank's diary is an exception to both of these staments. She was a very talented writer --- by the young age of 13 she knew about human nature, and how to describe inner feelings that we all experience. And, to add to the greatness of her story, she lived with the same 7 people for 2 years! The book honestly never gets boring, and there is even a little love mixed into it.

People wonder, "Why is Anne Frank so famous when she was just 1 of the 4 million Jews to die during the holocust?" The answer is her diary. It has been translated into 34 different lauguages and has sold over 4 million copies nationwide! Anne Frank was a very talented girl, and at 15 she knew more than most people do in a life time; if she had survived, she would be one of the best authors of all time --- and even though she is dead, she already is. An added note, Anne Frank died one week before liberation! She hid for 2 years and spent months starving at concentration camps slowly dying. As many say, "Anne Frank will forever remind the world what hate can do." So what are you waiting for? Pick up your copy today!

I loved this book. It inspired me to read more. When my teacher says 'drop everything and read,' I grab for SPEAK. I want to read all of Laurie Halse Anderson's books.

Tracy Lynn
The Lovely Bones by Alice Sebold
Rating: 5 Stars
I love this book. A friend of mine was sexually assaulted, and thankfully, lived. It's the type of book that just sort of jumps out at people and catches their attention. I love it and I couldn't stop reading it.

Andre
Kira-Kira by Cynthia Kadohata
Rating: 5 Stars
This Newbery Medal Award winner really lives up to its title. I loved this book. It put me into a few tears. Kadohata couldn't have done a better job.

Shakespeare's Scribe (The Shakespeare Stealer Seri by Gary L. Blackwood
Rating: 5 Stars
This book maybe wasn't as good as the first in this series, but it still rocks my socks. It was an awesome book, taking Widge through the hardships of the Black Plague. If you are looking for a page-turner to read during your Thanksgiving holiday (assuming you have one), then you should really get this book or the previous title in this amazing series.

Adam Canfield of the Slash by Michael Winerip
Rating: 4 Stars
I'd like to give some award to this book, since when I bought it, it didn't have one. The story has a great moral, and for that, it should definitely get something.

Andre
Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince by J. K. Rowling
Rating: 4 Stars
I love how Rowling illustrates Harry's troubles and happenings at Hogwarts, but in each book (except for maybe one or two) something always seems missing. But, to tell a story about something like that in a very interesting way is a great gift, and that is why I give this book kudos.

AndyMan101593
Soul Surfer by Bethany Hamilton
Rating: 4 Stars
Bethany Hamilton's autobiography about her shark attack in 2003 really gave me courage, and was something that pretty much changed my life. It made me more patient and optimistic, and I loved it for that. It shows me that no matter what, "live life to the fullest!" That's just what she wrote when autographing my copy.

Perfect by Natasha Friend
Rating: 5 Stars
I can really relate to this book and I think any teen can. I know some people don't like this book because it is about a girl who has an eating disorder, and they think that teens shouldn't be reading about it. But, I think that is stupid because this topic is all too common, and teens deal with it every day! PERFECT starts when the main character's little sister catches her throwing up her food, and her mom sends her to rehab. Her father also just died recently, so there are a lot of other family issues in the book too. This is a must-read!

Dragon Rider by Corneilia Funke
Rating: 3 Stars
I was a bit disappointed by this book. It was very monotonous. Ben, Firedrake, and Sorrel just did the same thing over and over again until we came to the turning point that we all know was going to happen. It lacked a lot of enigma. I couldn't wait to get that book done so that I could move on. New York Times #1 Bestseller? You've gotta be kidding me...

Sea of Trolls by Nancy Farmer
Rating: 5 Stars
SEA OF TROLLS is a riveting, exciting tale about a boy named Jack living in a small Saxon village out in the middle of the sea. But when Berserkers come and nab him, he learns to fend for himself and for Lucy, (his sister). This is a magical book with a surprising twist to the end.

This book is kind of sick at first, but once you get into it, it is a really interesting story about 2 girls who have nothing in common.

Uglies by Scott Westerfeld
Rating: 4 Stars
At first I thought this would be so predictable, but after reading UGLIES, I can't wait for PRETTIES, the next in the series. There is a unique twist on body image in this book, as all children are "uglies" before undergoing the "Pretty" surgery at sixteen. The protagonist, Tally, meets Shay weeks before her operation, who tries to change Tally's view of herself. She invites her to a place called the Smoke, where everyone, shockingly, is an ugly. But things take a turn for the worse, as Shay leaves for the Smoke without Tally. Tally is given an ultimatum --- lead the cruel special circumstances to the Smoke so they can take the runaways and destroy the city, or live life as an ugly, never getting your Pretty operation. Throughout this book, follow Tally as she discovers things about society, friendship, love, and most importantly, herself.

Wasteland by Francesca Lia Block
Rating: 5 Stars
WASTELAND tells the story of a brother and sister, Lex and Marina, who have had a strong bond ever since they were kids. When their love for one another goes too far one night, they are both plauged with guilt and Lex commits suicide. Marina, with the help of her friend West, tries to get some answers about her brother and winds up discovering something about herself and Lex that her mother kept secret. This is the most heartbreaking love story I have ever read. It's much better than Romeo and Juliet. Although the narrative can get very confusing because the author is always switching back and forth from Lex, Marina, and in third person, it's a wonderful book and I'd recommend this if you're looking for a good love story.

Whatever Happend to Janie? by Caroline B. Cooney
Rating: 5 Stars
This is the second book about a girl who, one day, sees a picture of herself on a milk carton missing child ad. In this book in particular, she tries to find out if she wants to go back to her biological parents or stay with her kidnapping family. During a long struggle no kid should ever have to go through, she finds out what she really wants.

Katie
The Nannies by Melody Mayer
Rating: 4 Stars
This book, about three different girls from three completely different cultural backrounds, is all in all pretty good. The characters pretty well-developed, and it seemed realistic, not that I would know. But, still, good book.

Tammy
Bad, Badder, Baddest by Cynthia Voigt
Rating: 3 Stars
Hmm... Without a doubt not the best I've ever read, but it wasn't a complete waste. I felt the story dragged on a little bit at certain parts, but the author was able to give a very good description of the main character's appearance and personality. I feel the author could of done better for the sequel of BORN TO BE BAD.

Lucas by Kevin Brooks
Rating: 5 Stars
It really gets to you, gripping you at the beginning, and not letting go until the book is over. It touches you, and once you get over what happens, you want to read it again and again, telling everyone how good it is! It could capture everyone, whether you like adventure, mystery, or love stories!

FLUSH is an awesome book! If you haven't read it yet, what are you waiting for?? HOOT, an earlier book by this same author, is also good!

Ashley
Speak by Laurie Halse Anderson
Rating: 5 Stars
This book really opened up my eyes and heart. It really makes you see what people go through inside. It does include sex and language, but nothing graphic, which is another trait of this book I like. I would recommend this book to any teen 13 and up. This is really a great book.

CRACKBACK is good football book. Anyone interested in annoying parents, coaches who are never happy, peer pressure, and steroids will probably like this book.

Fearless (series) by Francine Pascal
Rating: 5 Stars
It's all revolved around Gaia, a girl who is genetically fearless, and is always stalked and minipulated by people who want her for experiments. The series is also chock full of love, friendships taken away, and excitement.

Rating: 5 Stars
This book is amazing. It is so powerful and emotional..

Amber
Bartimaeus Trilogy by Jonathon Stroud
Rating: 5 Stars
THE AMULET OF SAMARKAND is the first book in the trilogy and was very good. I am currently reading THE GOLEM'S EYE, book number two. Both are very entertaining, and star Nathaniel, a boy-turned-magician, and the presumptuous djinn Bartimaeus he summons. These books are set in an alternative world, where magicians are all-powerful, contolling the government, and saving the world. Bartimaeus keeps you on your toes, and Nathaniel makes you shake you head in wonder. If you love adventure, magicians, and fantasy, read these books!

This is an amazing novel about a guy who is about to finish law school and already has a promised job at a firm. But as he is about to graduate, the firm merges with a big league firm and fires him before he even starts. There are too many lawyers and too little jobs...
