This book was astounding! It was incredibly easy to relate to as a reader, and it is wonderfully written. Calle's adventures as a freshman in high school were nailed perfectly, and her fears and apprehensions as a young girl raising her mother and falling in love for the first time are beautifully mastered by the author. I love Kim Culbertson's book and I am positive that it is a story that will stay with me forever!

One of Those Hideous Books Where the Mother Dies by Sonya Sones
Rating: 5 Stars
This book is so good. I read in like 2 hours. I really didn't think it would make sense when I started because the book looks like a collection of poems, but it's amazing how Sonya can connect them all together.

purpleiskewl

Siobhan

Rating: 5 Stars

Twilight by Stephenie Meyer
Rating: 5 Stars
I couldn't understand what the hype about the Twilight series was all about. Since Harry Potter, I've been looking for that special book that would spark my love again and this series has certainly done it! If you haven't read TWILIGHT yet, please do so. I will tell you what I was told when I first started becoming interested, and it was two words --- "vampire love". It doesn't sound that great, but it's awesome!

Victoria

Yaam
One of Those Hideous Books Where the Mother Dies by Sonya Sones
Rating: 4 Stars
When Ruby's mother suddenly dies, she goes to live with her famous actor father, Whip Logan, in Hollywood. Leaving her best friend, her aunt, and most importantly, her boyfriend, Ruby slowly discovers about things she could have never dreamed of. At first, she just sits at home, talking to Max --- whom she later finds out is her father's boyfriend --- and blasting Eminem CDs. She learns to deal with the famous life, from wearing designer labels to meeting Brad Pitt at the corner store. But when her best friend drops a bomb on her, Ruby thinks she can't handle it, and writing e-mails to her dead mother won't help her anymore. I recommend this book to people 14 and up.

Yaam
Bleed by Laurie Faria Stolarz
Rating: 5 Stars
One of the most amazing books I've read in a while. In one day, the lives of ten people, all of different ages, change and interact in surprising ways. From Robby, the guy who just got released from prison for murdering his girlfriend, to Nicole, the girl who loses her virginity to her best friend's boyfriend, to Joy, the waitress who desperately wants to be a princess. This is an amazing story about how difficult teenage life can be, and not just teenage life, but life as a whole. I strongly recommend this book to everyone (14 and older).

Meg
The Spook's Battle by Joseph Delaney

Marina S.
Songs for a Teenage Nomad by Kim Culbertson
Rating: 5 Stars
I love that Kim respects teenagers enough to write an intelligent YA novel. SONGS FOR A TEENAGE NOMAD is witty and emotive, and she writes with deep empathy for high schoolers. I definitely recommend it; you can check it out at www.kimculbertson.com or on Amazon.

Yaam
Gossip Girl by Cecily von Ziegesar
Rating: 5 Stars
GOSSIP GIRL is a novel about several teenagers whose lives intertwine in interesting ways. Although they are of different ages, races and backgrounds, all of them have something in common. They all live in New York, and they all have no limitations. This is the best series I've read in a while, and it's just like chocolate --- makes you want more and more. This is an awesome series and I recommend it to all girls, 13 and up.

Emily
The Luxe by Anna Godbersen
Rating: 5 Stars
This book has to be one of the best books I've ever read! It has everything I like: romance, mystery, family/friends and much, much more! I would definitely recommend this book to anyone, especially if you liked PRIDE AND PREJUDICE.

Suzie
A Child Called "It" by Dave Pelzer
Rating: 5 Stars
This book was so sad. I felt horrible when I read it. I cried when his mother tortured him and when his brother brought his friends over to watch. They laughed at him and that was rude! But, I really liked this book.

D Cooper
Bloody Jack by L. A. Meyer

Angie
Big Boned by Meg Cabot
Rating: 5 Stars
The most recent book in the Heather Wells series leaves me wanting more! I don't want to give anything away, because it's too good --- but I will say that MAJOR things happen in it!

Breanne
Twilight by Stephenie Meyer
Rating: 5 Stars
I am not the romantic type, but this book was really exciting. I finished it in a day and a half ( got in trouble for reading during Science...) but it was worth it because TWILIGHT kept me flipping pages. I am now on the sequel, NEW MOON. Simply amazing!

Covea
Angus, Thongs, and Full-Frontal Snogging by Louise Renninson
Rating: 5 Stars

Rachel
Love Undercover by Jo Edwards
Rating: 4 Stars
Very eventful, fun, and creative. I loved it!

Christine
The Other Boleyn Girl by Philippa Gregory
Rating: 5 Stars
This novel is simply fantastic!! A little lengthy, but definitely worth it! I could not put it down, and every page made me want to turn to the next to find out what would happen. It's about romance and the fight for the throne in the Tudor court in England, and I would recommend for older teens. Definitely a great read!

Carla
The Rise and Fall of a 10th Grade Social Climber by Lauren Mechling and Laura Moser
Rating: 4 Stars
This is a really cool book.

Emmaline
The Red Queen's Daughter by Jacqueline Kolosov
Rating: 5 Stars
This book is great! It's fantasy/historical fiction.

Sharon
The Lightning Thief by Rick Riordan
Rating: 5 Stars
If you like Greek mythology and the Gods of Olympus, you're going to love the Percy Jackson and the Olympians series. In the first book, THE LIGHTNING THIEF, Percy sets off on a dangerous quest to catch the thief who has stolen the original weapon of mass destruction --- Zeus's lightning bolt! Friendship, betrayal, action, suspense --- it's got it all!

Christine
The Queen of Everything by Deb Caletti
Rating: 3 Stars
THE QUEEN OF EVERYTHING by Deb Caletti was an interesting book. It took some time to get into; not very fast paced. It was definitely easy to connect with the character, but I felt there wasn't enough information about any other characters.

Bethany
Blue Bloods by Melissa De La Cruz
Rating: 5 Stars
In my opinion, this book is a great teen read. It is full of surprises and it makes me want to read it. I love vampire books including the Twilight series by Stephenie Meyer. This book is different than any other vampire book I have read and I have read many books. It does everything that contradicts Hollywood views of vampires.

Alexandra
Poison by Chris Wooding
Rating: 5 Stars
This is the book to read if you are a fantasy lover. This phaerie-tale is an exciting story of adventure about a girl who sets off in search of her stolen baby sister. It tells of how a determined 16-year old will go through anything to save her sister from the evil Phaerie Lord, even in a realm where she has never been before. Full of action, jaw-dropping moments, love, mystery and many emotions there aren't even words for, POISON will change the way you think about life and leave you wanting more.

Melissa
City of Bones by Cassandra Clare

Rosie
Diary of a Crush Series by Sara Manning
Rating: 5 Stars
This is really good and is part of a trilogy. I just need to read the 3rd one. The first one is called FRENCH KISS, the second is KISS AND MAKE UP, and the third is SEALED WITH A KISS. These books are for girls who are into romance and some comedy.

Amelia
Ready or Not by Meg Cabot
Rating: 5 Stars
This book is the sequel to ALL-AMERICAN GIRL by Meg Cabot, which I read over the summer and loved it. When I found out there was a sequel, I just had to read it. My expectations were high but this book reached them with no problem! I definitely recommend it!

Nicole
The Face on the Milk Carton by Caroline B. Cooney
Rating: 3 Stars
I liked this book a lot. The only problem I had with it was it went too slowly. The mystery seemed to drag on and on. Also, it never gave the complete "yes," she was kidnapped or "no," she wasn't. If you want to find out, you have to read the sequel.

Logan
Evil Genius by Catherine Jinks
Rating: 5 Stars
This is a very good book for kids around the age of thirteen. It is about a boy who goes to a secret school to learn about bombs, poision, and even computer hacking. This book is a fast read and a page turner.

Tasha S.
The Luxe by Anna Godberson
Rating: 5 Stars
This book was great. It was almost like the Gossip Girl books, but set in the late 1800s, which made it so much better. Also, there was more mystery and scandal than in the Gossip Girl books. Any girl looking for a good book definitely check out THE LUXE.

Ana
Love is a Many Trousered Thing by Louise Rennison

Kate
To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee
Rating: 5 Stars
Although people may think it's boring because it's a classic, this book is completely different from what I thought it would be. It is easy to read, and doesn't confuse the reader with fancy symbolism or metaphors. It is told directly by Scout, and it's funny, sad, and ultimately heartwarming. It's a great read for all ages.

Kate
Extras by Scott Westerfeld
Rating: 4 Stars
I liked this book better than the original Uglies trilogy. It's in a different setting with new characters, and the conflict isn't as frustrating as the ones in the trilogy. Even if you haven't read the first three, this one is easy to pick up on, and moves at a fast pace

Morgan

Montmorency: Thief, Liar, Gentleman? by Eleanor Updale
Rating: 5 Stars
This first book in the Montmorency series chronicles the life of a man named Montmorency (gentleman by day) and his alter-ego Scarper (thief by night). The most remarkable thing about this series is that virtually every character is an adult! I couldn't put the book down --- it was great!

Kate
The Sweet Far Thing by Libba Bray

Sarah
Harley, Like a Person by Cat Bauer
Rating: 5 Stars
I love this book. Harley is an average 14-year-old high schooler into art and well, drugs. She has a "druggie" boyfriend, a show-off sister/friend, and a strict mother. But art wins and she finds who her real father is in the end. It's better than that, don't think I just gave away the ending!! It's better than what anyone can put in words besides Cat Bauer, the author.

Lola
Perfect: A Pretty Little Liars Novel by Sara Shepard
Rating: 5 Stars

Desdemona
The Book Thief by Markus Zusak
Rating: 5 Stars
I have alway been fascinated by stories that take place during World War II. Told by the point of view of Death, THE BOOK THIEF follows Liesel Meminger on her journey through life with her new foster family and the Jew they are hiding in the basement. Brilliant prose, believable dialogue, and a story that gets in your head and won't let go, THE BOOK THIEF is a great book you just can't put down.

Desdemona
My Sister's Keeper by Jodi Picoult
Rating: 4 Stars
There are very few books that have made me cry. This is one of the few. Jodi Picoult has a way of manipulating your senses. She makes you laugh and cry, sometimes at the same time. The story is so believable and the characters so easy to get into. This is a great book, just make sure you have some Kleenex. It's a real tear jerker.

Desdemona
Speak by Laurie Halse Anderson
Rating: 5 Stars
SPEAK is one of the most moving books I have read. It shows teenage life better than I have ever seen in a book before. It shows, not only the story of a girl going through a hard time in her life because of events at a party, but the affect other people have on her. It shows that sometimes, the only way to get over something is to speak up and face it. I highly recommend this. :)

Babs
Extras by Scott Westerfeld

The Twilight series by Stephenie
Rating: 5 Stars
I was not going to read these books because everyone else was, but I got TWILIGHT for Christmas, so I decided to read it. It is a great series about Bella, vampires, and werewolves. Although the book is about Bella, it really should be about Edward, the character most have fallen in love with. We all are looking for an Edward --- someone to protect us and love us.

Babs
Nick & Norah's Infinite Playlist by Rachel Cohn

I loved this book. It is obviously the best book I have ever read. I like it how a famous person can turn out to be a regular teen in a matter of a few days. I would recommended this book to anyone who loves a good book that sometimes has sad parts. Definitely read it.

This is the book to read if you are a fantasy lover. This phaerie tale is an exciting story of adventure for a girl who sets off in search of her stolen baby sister. It tells of how a determined 16 year old will go through anything to save her sister from the evil Phaerie Lord, even in a realm she has never been in before. Full of action, jaw-dropping moments, love, mystery and many emotions there aren't even words for, POISON will change the way you think about life and leave you wanting more.

The Principles of Love by Emily Franklin

This book was awesome! I couldn't put it down! It's about this girl who attends prep school her sophomore year. If dealing with a huge load of homework every night wasn't enough, she's also the the new dean's daughter. Follow Love (and yes that is her name) as she has a sophomore year filled with drama, romance, and confusion. This book is hilarious and very entertaining with many funny movie and music references. It's easy to relate to the character and I could not put it down. This book was really awesome!

I seriously cannot recommend anything better. In the way she describes the scenery and character, it's like you're in INGO yourself, and the whole plots tie really well together. The characters seem so real, almost life like! It's a really good book and I would defiantly recommend it to anyone and especially for people who love adventures!

This book rocked. It's about this girl named Ruby who gets involved with this boy named Travis who's family is really rich, and in the small town that Ruby lives in, Travis' family are considered to be "celebrities." So Ruby starts hanging out with Travis and slacking off on her responsibilities to be with him. Then Travis does something horrible and it makes Ruby consider her options. She starts wondering if hanging out with Travis is worth it. Meanwhile, her mom gets her involved in a book club and Ruby gets deeply involved in the story that they are reading. An exciting twist in this book makes Ruby come to her senses and makes the right choice.

Eclipse by Stephenie Meyer
Rating: 5 Stars
This is one of the best books that anyone of all ages can enjoy. Stephenie Meyer has created yet another award-winning novel that follows its just-as-great predecessors. The story of Bella and Edward continues with a clan of newborn vampires set out to destroy Bella, but in the end, the vampires led by the vicious Victoria are no match for the Cullens and an angry pack of young werewolves. That's not the only thing Bella has to endure --- her friendship with Jacob is tested when she realizes the she is in love with him and she has to make a decision that could possible hurt him.

Hit and Run by Lurlene McDaniel
Rating: 2 Stars
This was definitely not Lurlene's best book. I have read a couple of her others and they were great! In this book, the author could have added a lot more detail and made the ending a bit better. It is about 4 teenagers who get involved in a hit-and-run accident and when they don't tell the police the truth, 2 of them get sucked into a vortex of shame and guilt.

Eclipse by Stephanie Meyer
Rating: 5 Stars
This is by far one of the best books I have read so far. After reading Harry Potter I didn't think anything could beat that. But ECLIPSE, the third book in the Twilight series, was truly amazing, and has now topped my list. The book was compelling, full of suspense, and had a bit of everything. Starting from love to life, to death, the book covered almost every topic you could think of. It was such a great book. I highly recommend everyone to read this series.

The Keep by Jennifer Egan
Rating: 5 Stars
Jennifer Egan is a great writer. This story is pretty fascinating, but what makes it come alive is how well she describes the characters and the scene. The words come alive on the page. It's a great mystery (not a Sherlock Holmes mystery) filled with suspense and a great twist at the end. There is one really weird part in the middle of the book where the guy goes into this tower with an old lady, but...other than that, it was wicked.

This book was awesome! It's like the Gossip Girl books, except it is based in Manhattan in the 1900s. This book is really good and different. There are the bad people (demons) and there are the good people (the brotherhood), and as usual, they fight each other. Enders Game by Orson Scott Card
Rating: 5 Stars
This book is amazing! It's one of those books that makes you change the way you think about life for...well...the rest of your life! The book is centered around a kid (age 6) named Andrew Wiggins. He is sent to an elite military school to fight buggers, an alien race that has attacked twice before. The government, in order to protect earth, mounts a counter attack. I was so incredibly shocked at the ending, I had to re-read it to make sure I got what just happened! I was skeptical when I first heard about it, but when I finally sat down and read it, I was beyond shocked! After reading this book, I can say that I have read the best science fiction has to offer! Orson Scott Card's books continue to amaze me, even past ENDER'S GAME.

Ready or Not by Meg Cabot
Rating: 4 Stars
This book is about a girl named Samantha Madison, and if you've already read ALL AMERICAN GIRL, then you already know all about her. This book is even better, even though it is a little shorter, because it has even more romance in it than the first one. It's mainly based around one question --- Is Sam ready for her and her boyfriend, David, the President's son, ready to take it to the next level? You'll just have to read the book and find out. I totally recommend this book for people who like a little comedy mixed in with some romance.

Rating: 4 Stars
This page turner held a surprise --- and a surveillance camera --- behind every corner. Carter gives a taste of the spy life as she guides her readers through this school for genuis girls, although the most challenging part comes when Cammie Morgan is approached by the boy of her dreams. Being a "pavement artist," this isn't something Cammie's entirely used to. As she desperately tries to find a place in her life for this boy who can never really know the truth about her, Cammie shows us all that sometimes, the hardest thing about being a spy is keeping up with your legend.

The setting of this fantasy fiction, in 1800s England, is a bit distracting; but this story of a girl who sees visions in the midst of secrecy and magic is good. It is very well written and you can almost hear the howling of the wind and the chill of the air. A good read.

Rating: 5 Stars
INKHEART by Cornelia Funke has been my favourite book for years. Six, to be exact. I remember reading it in grade seven and loving it as much as I do now. REDEEMING LOVE is one of the best romance novels I've read this year! Set in the time of the 1850s California gold rush, this book is about a simple Christian farmer who has been waiting and praying for a wife for a long time. He sees a woman walking through the town, and falls in love with her at first sight, only later to find out that she is the town's most lusted-after prostitute. But still, he is determined to marry this woman. She, on the other hand, is determined not to have anything to do with him. This was a really cute book. Very deep and a great read for kids and adults. Although it was wonderful, I liked the movie better.

Spirited Away by Cindy Miles
Rating: 5 Stars
Alright, so I have to say this book is for the open minded, it was such a great book! I could not put it down! It is about a cursed knight from the 12th century and his crush on an American archeologist and how she tries to free him from the curse. It is a great romance but also doubles as a riveting mystery. I hope at least one of you who reads this will try this book! (And if you like it, another great book like this I can recommend is INTO THIN AIR also by Cindy Miles).

Wicked Lovely by Melissa Mar

Eclipse by Stephenie Meyer

This book is wonderful. It adds to the series well. It tells a wonderful continuation of the story of Edward and Bella and their love. Jacob plays a key role in this novel that keeps readers on their feet, reading all night long.

Elise
A Great And Terrible Beauty by Libba Bray
Rating: 4 Stars
This was a really great book and I enjoyed reading it. It had magic and mystery, along with teenage problems at an all-girls boarding school. The second one is even better. I loved it.

Elise
Elsewhere by Gabrielle Zevin
Rating: 4 Stars
This book really freaked me out. It was about this teenage girl who died after getting hit by a car, and she woke up on a boat to the afterlife. What was really scary was how similar she was to me. It was a very touching book, with a new look at the afterlife. Although I don't agree how the author depicted what happens after death, it was very intense and heart-wrenching. At the end of the book I was crying, because it made me feel happy and sad at the same time. I suggest reading it, it was terrific.

Elise
Memoirs of a Teenage Amnesiac by Gabrielle Zevin
Rating: 2 Stars
This book was ok. It was kind of bland for me. Not much really went on. It was cute, but nothing really special. If you're into girly teenage love kind of books, it would be great. This author is great, especially with the book ELSEWHERE, but this one did not live up to my expectations.

Elise
Uglies by Scott Westerfeld
Rating: 1 Stars
Many people say this book is really great, but honestly I did not think it was very interesting. I put it down when I was a three quarters of the way through it, because it just didn't do anything for me. Maybe it would have been better if i had finished it, but from the first three quarters of it I read, it sucked.

Twilight by Stephenie Meyer

This is the best book you will ever read! Vampires, werewolves, romance, Edward Cullen...what more could a girl ask for?

Elise
A Certain Slant of Light by Laura Whitcomb
Rating: 4 Stars
I liked this book. It was pretty good and kept my attention. It is not very long, but it didn't need to be. It had a great ending and a great story. I wouldn't recommend it for younger teenagers because there is one scene that is very adult, but I thought it was awesome.

DAIRY QUEEN and THE OFF SEASON by Catherine Gilbert Murdock
Rating: 5 Stars
These are two amazing books that I worship. They give you that sense that no matter what, you have the power to do what you want, even if you do something out of the norm. Not to mention it has that sports vibe to them, which is just amazing!

Surprise Endings by Robin Jones Gunn
Rating: 5 Stars
I have no idea why I love the Christy Miller series --- sometimes when I read it, I think, "how juvenile!" But then I can't put the book down! In this particular installment, I took away a lesson that I never thought about as a Christian, and as the title says, it is a surprise ending!

Ask Me No Questions by Marina Budhos

Morgan
The Off Season by Catherine Gilbert Murdock

This book is the sequel to DAIRY QUEEN and is just as good. Life seems to be going good for DJ, but then many things happen, including her brother being seriously hurt. If you liked DAIRY QUEEN, then read this book!

I Am The Messenger by Markus Zusak
Rating: 5 Stars
After reading THE BOOK THIEF and loving it, I decided to read more of Markus Zusak's books, and I wasn't disapointed. This book is about Ed Kennedy, an ordinary 19-year-old cab driver who just happens to thwart a bank robbery one day. After that, he receives old playing cards in the mail with addresses, names, or other clues left on them. He has to change that person's life, and finds out many things along the way, but he also makes new friends.

It Had To Be You by Cecily Von Ziegezar
Rating: 4 Stars
This prequel to the Gossip Girl series is definitely a great read and a great ending to the stories of our favorite characters' Serena, Blair and Nate. The book definitely gave more focus to those three and a little bit on Jenny's growing you know what. It was cool that the author made this book so that we can know what happened before EVERYTHING happened, but there's still one mystery that remains, and we can only keep guessing. Who is GG??

Memoirs of a Teenage Amnesiac by Gabrielle Zevin
Rating: 4 Stars
MEMOIRS OF A TEENAGE AMNESIAC is about a girl who falls and loses her memory. it was a pretty good book, but a little predictable. I would read it again but then I wouldn't have time to read all the other great books out there.

Destiny
A Time to Kill by John Grisham
Rating: 5 Stars
This book is about a young lawyer fighting to justify a (black) man murdering the two white men who raped his daughter in a small, rural, Mississippi town. The lawyer is trying to justify this on the fact they needed to be killed. This book is very realistic and does not spare details. It is a great eye opener for any teen who loves a great time-captivating and thrilling book!

Sadie

This is about a teenage model who hates what is expected of her, and her friendship with the angry school outcast who shows her what real music is.

Em
Teen Idol by Meg Cabot
Rating: 4 Stars
Meg Cabot's books are all sort of formulaic. If you've read a couple of them you know what I mean. Otherwise, it was a very good book, and it's a good, quick read.

Em
All American Girl by Meg Cabot
Rating: 4 Stars
Again, this book is pretty formulaic. It's enjoyable, I guess. If you have nothing else to do, it's fun and entertaining.

Yell-Oh Girls! by Vickie Nam
Rating: 4 Stars

Rating: 4 Stars
I just started it, but it's really good so far.

Ozzy
New Moon by Stephenie Meyer
Rating: 5 Stars
Even better than the first (TWILIGHT), this book is a definite page turner. Every detail of Edward and Bella's romance is heart-wrenching and inexplicably delightful. You'll laugh, you'll cry, and you'll wish Edward Cullen was your guy.

Hannah Rose
Blue Girl by Charles de Lint
Rating: 4 Stars
I'm only part of the way through, but so far, I'm really enjoying BLUE GIRL. I would like there to be a bit more dialogue, but it's a pretty good book. I would recommend it to anyone who likes creepy modern fantasy. (BTW, I cannot wait to read THE SWEET FAR THING. I hope I get a chance to win it!)

Liz
House of the Scorpion by Nancy Farmer
Rating: 4 Stars
Although this book was published in 2002, it is one of the best books out there that has recently been published. It is about a boy named Matt and how he figures out that he is a clone. If you like science fiction or mystery, this is the book you want to read. It combines both elements very nicely. Although, I do not suggest reading it right before bed.

Jennie
Bloom by Elizabeth Scott
Rating: 4 Stars
i really liked this book. It's about girl who has a boyfriend, and he's nice and popular but she just doesn't like him like she wants to. She falls in love with another guy, who isn't popular at all and has to figure out if she should do what everyone else thinks she should, or go for what she wants.

Jessica
Twilight by Stephenie Meyer

The King of Attolia by Megan Whalen Turner
Rating: 5 Stars
THE KING OF ATTOLIA is Megan Whalen Turner's best novel. Gen, the ever-charismatic thief, is back. In this book, he steals the queen and her heart. We also discover that Gen's received something he never wanted: the crown. The Attolians consider him unworthy of the crown, but they will soon learn that he is not someone to be reckoned with!

Rachel
Parrotfish by Ellen Wittlinger
Rating: 5 Stars
A really good book that opens your eyes and mind. It made me think a lot about gender and the restrictions it sets on people without them really knowing it.

Laura
The Bell Jar by Slyvia Plath
Rating: 5 Stars
This an amazing book (my second time reading it) about a girl named Esther who starts to go mental. The author gets you so wrapped up into the story and into Esther's mind that you feel like you may be going crazy as well. Her thoughts make sense, even though in the back of your mind it can't be right. I would definitely recommend this to anybody (especially girls).

Evelyn
Atonement by Ian McEwan
Rating: 4 Stars
This was a really good story that was purely romantic, but really tragic at the same time, so that you can almost feel the emotions of each character. Basically, a young woman's little sister gets caught away in her imagination and accuses her older sister's good-hearted lover of a crime he didn't commit. He is sent to prison for a long time and then has to join the war (it's set in the 1930's), so he and his love are separated and the younger sister feels guilt all throughout her life. The ending is really different!

Laura S
The Goose Girl by Sarah Hale

Elise P
Nothing But the Truth (and a Few White Lies) by Justina Chen Headley
Rating: 4 Stars
This was a really good book and was really sensitive and yet also blunt about many serious subjects. There were a few flaws such as stereotyping (although that was the point of the book) and several instances that were slightly cliched. But overall it was a really good book and definitely worth reading.

Jacqueline Knapp
The Heart is a Lonely Hunter by Carson McCullers

Although the novel can be depressing at times, it somehow touches you and also gives you an idea about everyday life for the poor during the Great Depression. It teaches you about how strong friendships can be.

Sarah
The Nanny Diaries by Emma McLaughlin and Nicola Kraus
Rating: 4 Stars
I haven't gotten very far yet so my rating isn't very accurate, but once I get further, I'm sure my rating will go up. This book is told from the narrator's point of view. She is young and has a great sense of humor. It interests me because I saw the movie, and I'm a babysitter myself (I'm not yet up to "nanny" standards).

Audrey
Memiors of a Teenage Amnesiac by Gabrielle Zevin
Rating: 5 Stars
This book was awesome! Naomi basically has to re-invent herself after she falls down the stairs and loses four years of her memory. If this happened to me, it would suck, but would also be a chance to try new things or meet new people. Anyways, this book was really good and I recommend it.

Jessica
Seeing Redd by Frank Beddor

I'm only about halfway through it, but it's so hard to put this book down. It's about a teenage boy who has severe depression, and he ends up going into a mental hospital for a while. It has a lot of funny moments while dealing with a serious topic at the same time.

Bass Ackwards and Belly Up by Elizabeth Craft and Sarah Fain
Rating: 5 Stars
This is one of my many favorite books! BASS ACKWARDS AND BELLY UP is like THE SISTERHOOD OF THE TRAVELING PANTS, but the charaters just finished high school, like in the 4th Sisterhood book. Tere are four girls: Sophie, Kate, Harper, and Becca. After Harper gets rejected from NYU she decides to follow her dream to write America's next great novel. Following her example, Kate turns down Harvard and goes backpacking across Europe to discover herself. Sophie goes to LA to become an actress, and Becca goes to college and pursues her dream to fall in love. This is an amazingly awesome book. you all should definitely read it...except the boys might not want to because it has some girl stuff in it.

Maximum Ride: The Angel Experiment by James Patterson
Rating: 5 Stars
This book is so amazing! Not only do you have a high-action book with mad scientists, the Big Apple, and possible romance, but the story is told from the perspective of the sassy fourteen-year-old Max Ride who is a bit of a smart alec, but a girl who loves and protects her family.

Marissa
One For Sorrow by Christopher Barzak
Rating: 3 Stars
Very odd, but it captured my attention. It's about a boy who can see the ghost of a murdered boy, but the ghost refuses to leave him alone. And about his relationship with the girl who discovers the ghost's body.

Naftali0226
The House of the Scorpion by Nancy Farmer
Rating: 5 Stars
I love this book. This book takes place in the future, where an old man clones himself, so he can use the clone for organs. The plot was very complex. The ideas were original, and the characters felt so real. I like that it's a bit more diverse. No blondies and girls who complain they're too skinny, it actually portrayed Mexican characters without giving us stereotypes. This was a really good book, and it made me think about controversial issues surrounding cloning. It made me more against the idea that we should clone human beings.

Marissa
White Oleander by Janet Fitch
Rating: 4 Stars
Excellently written. WHITE OLEANDER's a little slow in the middle, but still very good. It's about a girl who has to go from foster home to foster home after her mother is sent to prison.

Sandy
The Named by Marianne Curley
Rating: 5 Stars
I first saw this and thought that it was just another one of those time-travel books, but this book has a lot more to it. The named has a great plot and amazing characters. The characters in the book are so easy to relate to. I loved this book when I read it! I also loved the other books in this series.

Sandy
Beastly by Alex Flinn
Rating: 5 Stars
This book is a modern-day Beauty and the Beast. It was much more interesting than most fairy tale re-tellings because it had some differences from the original story. This book was also really great because it is told from the beast's perspective.

Mary Liz

Burned by Ellen Hopkins
Rating: 5 Stars

Amber
Impulse by Ellen Hopkins
Rating: 5 Stars
If you have questions about finding out who you really are, how to handle everything life throws at you on impulse, or just how to relate to other people, then you must read IMPULSE by Ellen Hopkins. The stories told in this book are amazingly heartwarming, intense, and extremely realistic. You'll find that everything mentioned in the book is actually going on around you. It is definitely one of my top picks.
