1001 Cranes by Naomi Hirahara
Rating: 4 Stars
A great coming-of-age story about Angela, who loses and finds love, family, friends and herself.

Jessica
The Reformed Vampire Support Group by Catherine Jinks
Rating: 3 Stars
This a really funny portrayal of vampires. With the Twilight craze, it's nice to read a book where vampires aren't really sexy. Sometimes, it seems a little long, though.

pixiPassion
Megan Meade's Guide to the McGowen Boys by Kate Brian
Rating: 3 Stars
It was ok, I guess. It's about this girl who's living with her parents' friends, who have 7 boys. The story's basically learning to understand boys and all that.

J. Vincent
Thirteen Days by Robert F. Kennedy
Rating: 5 Stars
For a research paper in history on the Cuban Missile Crisis, I read Robert F. Kennedy's memoir on the two weeks in October, 1962 that could almost have caused a nuclear war. Because he was part of the 14-person group called ExComm, which included his brother, President John F. Kennedy, the memoir is a first-hand look at what really happened in the White House during that time. While it is a short book, it accurately depicts the extensive decision making that ExComm did in order to prevent any nuclear fallout. Luckily, they chose the right solution to blockade the island of Cuba, which had Soviet warheads stationed on it, and tell Premier Khrushchev to remove the nukes in exchange for the US removing their warheads stationed in Turkey. I highly recommend this to any history student assigned something on the Cold War, as it is a very interesting topic and quite an enjoyable read.

Love is Hell by Melissa Marr,Scott Westerfeld, Justine Larblestier
Rating: 5 Stars
It's a book with 5 stories by top authors.

Kim
Warriors by Erin Hunter
Rating: 4 Stars
This series was very interesting to me. It is very different to read a book that is from a cat's perspective. It is very fascinating though because you would never think that wild cats would act like that. They describe many things that we know in such a different way. I would recommend this series to anyone who enjoys to read.

pixiPassion
1984 by George Orwell
Rating: 3 Stars
I'm just starting the book. but, so far, its pretty good. The book's a classic and its about this community living under their dictator, the Big Brother. Then, someone starts to wonder about the real life and all that. And, if you've heard of the tv show "Big Brother", where they lock up these people in the house and someone's always watching them and bossing them around, they got that idea from this book. It's really good.

Kim
Specials by Scott Westerfield
Rating: 5 Stars
I thought that SPECIALS was the best book out of the Uglies series. Scott really got into the description of how overcoming and different it was for Tally to become special and what it felt like to her. There were also a lot of suspenseful moments and parts that completely caught me off guard. It was extremely fascinating to me and I got through the book very quickly.

The Pact by Jodi Picoult
Rating: 2 Stars
It has an interesting way of going about the whole narrating process, but I do not feel that there was really a plot. The only reason that I found to finish the book was to see if Chris Harte is found guilty of murder.

Kim
Cirque du Freak by Darren Shan
Rating: 5 Stars
This series was absolutely amazing to me. Darren really takes you into of the world of the darkness and what secrets lurk in it. The name of the series also speaks for itself because some of the events in some of the books are truly freaky. I recommend this series to anyone who likes to be freaked out every once in a while. It will make you think about what goes on when you turn off the light.

How I Found the Perfect Dress by Maryrose Wood
Rating: 4 Stars
This sequel to WHY I LET MY HAIR GROW OUT is very enjoyable. While teens appreciate being able to relate to Morgan, they also enjoy the fantasy of her world has a half-goddess. Maryrose Wood has a terrific imagination!

Maria
My Sister's Keeper by Jodi Picoult
Rating: 5 Stars
This beautiful book tells the emotional story of a family dealing with a sick daughter and sister. I love how the author taps into your emotions and the unexpected occurs.

Liz
Romeo's Ex by Lisa Fielder
Rating: 5 Stars
An amazing retelling of one of Shakespeare's most famous plays. The author brings in all of our favorite characters from Romeo and Juliet as well as Twelfth Night and Two Gentlemen of Verona. This book really shows us the true nature of Romeo's first love, Rosaline, and goes in depth about characters not as well known in the play. The twists and shocking takes of the famous death scenes will leave you breathless.

One of the best books I've read by Jodi Picoult. She does an excellent job of telling all sides of the story and keeping you on the edge, wanting more even after the major twist.

Of Mice and Men by John Steinbeck

The Mortal Instruments Trilogy concludes with this gripping novel. Clary and Jace are finding out more about their past when they find that things they don't know about themselves may end up determining the future. Valentine is getting more powerful and he only has to find the Mirror, the final Mortal Instrument, to have complete power. CITY OF BONES is a fantastic fantasy novel with humor and horror, action and romance.

Guilty Pleasures by Laurel K. Hamilton
Rating: 4 Stars
This is pretty good. It has vampires and all that fun supernatural stuff; however, the twist is people know these creatures exist. The 'supernatural' beings are not hidden among us, instead they are among us and known. Pretty interesting. Not the greatest book out there but it is worth the read.

Alyster Angel of Compassion
Masquerade by Melissa de la Cruz
Rating: 4 Stars
This was an amazing book about love and hatred all rolled together in one package. Adding to the fact that Schuyler is a Blue Blood or, more commonly known, a vampire. This is a good book to read, people, but I recommend that you read the previous book, BLUE BLOODS, first.

It's such a thrilling book with surprises. Cassandra Clare deserves my respect. I love Jace. Why can't there be real hot Sahdowhunters? This final Mortal Instruments novel is the finale of a wonderful series in which Clary, Simon, Jace and the Lightwoods must battle Valentine for their freedom --- not only their lives are at stake but thousands.

The Truth About Forever by Sarah Dessen
Rating: 4 Stars
I am currently in the middle. This is an amazing book. It's about this girl named Macy and she doesn't know what she should do with her life. She doesn't know if she should take to the wild side and sneek out at night, or sit in for her boyfriend at his job at the library while he goes to braun camp. My eyes are glued to the book. I read like two hours or more a day. I would recommend this book to anybody! :]

Impossible by Nancy Werlin
Rating: 5 Stars
I decided to listen to this book while driving and several times I found myself sitting in a parking lot, refusing to leave my car, because I had to hear more!

A great coming-of-age story filled with an ancient curse and true love.

jtwilight
Echos by Robin Jones Gunn
Rating: 5 Stars
I love this book. It is a fiction romance, yet it's appropriate for teens. I told everyone about it.i've had it for 2 weeks and read it 3 times. The main guy named Kenton is a dream come true. Anyone would fall in love with him by the end, which makes sense, considering the main girl, Lauren does. I love the ending because it just stumped me so bad, but it ends great. If you want to know why, read and find out. Please!

jtwilight
Native Son by J. M. Hochstetler
Rating: 4 Stars
If you read this, you will probably be mad at the end. That doesn't sound good, I know, but there's a third book and you have to read. The main character, Jonathan, is like my total dream guy and the main girl character, Elizabeth, is my total role model. This is the second book in the American Patriot series. You really should read the first, it's awesome too. It's called DAUGHTER OF LIBERTY. It takes place during the Revolutionary War. Elizabeth is a patriot spy. Then Jonathan Carleton, a British soldier, comes along and they both fall madly in love with each other. Will she chose between her honor or her love?

Michaela
Away Laughing on a Fast Camel by Louise Rennison
Rating: 5 Stars
It is so far the best in the series, I believe.

Judith
Pefect Chemistry by Simone Eckles
Rating: 5 Stars
I saw this book on the newsletter and read the summary of what it was about. I've read only one book that had this similar style. It 's back and forth going from the guy's and girl's point of view where you read about both the characters. Best book I've read so far this year. I recommend this book to both teen males and females.

Lord of Flies by William Golding
Rating: 3 Stars
So far, this book is pretty good. It's about these British school boys who become trapped on an island. The story's kind of like the tv series "Lost" but I'm pretty sure the author didn't steal the idea. The book even won a Nobel Prize for Literature. How cool is that? But, I still haven't finish it, so I'm going to find out soon enough if the book's worth the award.

Coffee Will Make You Black by April Sinclair

Meghan
The Vampire Academy Series by Richelle Mead

Fragile Eternity by Melissa Marr
Rating: 4 Stars
I loved the sequel to WICKED LOVELY! It continues the story of Aislinn, Seth, and Keenan, and I cant wait for the next book that reveals what happens next --- probably an all-out battle between the courts of summer, winter, and the dark and high. Bananach sure is evil, stirring everybody up like that.

Délon City by R. W. Ridley
Rating: 4 Stars
I don't know if this will be as good as THE TAKERS. I only just opened it for a few minutes. One of the main characters in the first book, is dead. That was disappointing. Hopefully, there won't be any further disappointments.

Something, Maybe by Elizabeth Scott
Rating: 4 Stars
I've just read this book and it's amazingly funny. I didn't think it would be so entertaining, but I had to get a book for when we tested at school. I checked this book out and am now in love with it. I've been re-reading parts from it for days.

The Host by Stephenie Meyer
Rating: 5 Stars
I haven't finished THE HOST yet, I have about 75 pages left of the 617. I just have to say it is an amazing book; very interesting. It keeps you guessing and wondering. I really don't know how each outcome will be. When people give you a glimpse of it, it sounds really weird but it's really not. And when you read it for yourself, it's less confusing. It's so good and interesting. If people put certain expectations on it because it is by Stephenie Meyer, then they will be disappointed because they'll just be thinking about the Twilight series. But when you forget about Twilight and realize that it's a completely separate book from the series, then will you love it. It is amazing!

Heartbreakers by Pamela Wells
Rating: 3 Stars
It isn't too bad, but it isn't that amazing. I'm only on chapter two, and I hope it gets better. So far, I have concluded that some teenage girls are going to be dumped, and need each other to get through it all.

Poison Study by Maria V. Snyder
Rating: 5 Stars
This book was actually really good for me.

For once, I didn't really hate a character so much that I wanted to throw the book against the wall.

Also, the author did a good job at keeping secrets and had good timing with revealing them so that it kept my attention the entire time.

Plus the romance was kind of cute.

Rating: 5 Stars
IF I STAY was a very great book from beginning to end. I was hooked on it from the first page and was emotional throughout the book. Shift by Jennifer Bradbury
Rating: 5 Stars
This is the story of two boys who set out on a cross-country bike ride the summer before college. Near the end of their journey, they split up, and the narrator, Chris, heads home and goes to college. It's only when the FBI shows up that he realizes that Win, his (former) best friend, didn't do the same. The chapters alternate between Chris's quest to solve the mystery of Win's disappearance and the bike ride leading up to it. I'm not always a huge fan of mysteries, but I couldn't stop reading this book. The characters are real, the writing style is fabulous, and I couldn't wait to read the next chapter. It took me one day to read this book. I absolutely recommend it.

Briana
The One (Chloe Gamble Series) by Ed Decter
Rating: 5 Stars
This book was so fast paced, I couldn't put it down. Not many people have heard of it but it's basically about a small-town girl moving to LA to live her dream. But it's so much more than that. Chloe Gamble is an "It" girl, and when she walks into a room people do double-takes. She almost always gets what she wants. I can't wait for the next book to come out!

TruBlu93
Indiscretion by Jude Morgan

John Boyne did an excellent job of writing this story. THE BOY IN THE STRIPED PAJAMAS was one of the most original, thought-provoking, and heartfelt books if I have ever read one. Boyne never really seemed to come right out and state exactly what was happening, and I liked that. He gave you the information needed for you to figure things out on your own, and that was it. When reading this book, it helps if you know a little background history on the Holocaust. The main character, Bruno, had all the characteristics and mentality that I would have expected of a nine-year-old boy from that time period. I fully believe that everyone should read this book.

Artemis Fowl by Eoin Colfer

It's a pretty OK book. It's about fairies and this kid, Artemis Fowl, who's a criminal mastermind. He's trying to catch fairies and get gold from them to get their fortune back.

The Tea Rose by Jennifer Donnelly

This novel is the best I've read. She brings together the ones who are different and who are not normal. If I can tell anyone to read this, I would.

Beauty Shop for Rent: Fully Equipped, Inquire w by Laura Bowers
Rating: 5 Stars
I really enjoyed this book, which was a surprise because I wasn't expecting much. I thought it would be a fluffy friendship story, but there was much more to it than that. The story of Abbey's journey from trusting child to enlightened young adult is humorous and heart-wrenching at the same time. I would recommend this book for any of my students.

Blood and Chocolate by Annette Kurtis Clause

This was a great book! Anyone who is a fan of the Twilight series should read BLOOD AND CHOCOLATE. The book is about a girl who is a werewolf and has to deal with falling in love with a human.

Memoirs of a Teenage Amnesiac by Gabrielle Zevin
Rating: 4 Stars
I really like this book. I think Gabrielle Zevin is an awesome writer because before, I also read her other book, ELSEWHERE. I like the plots in her books.

New Moon by Stephenie Meyer
Rating: 4 Stars
I had read over 100 pgs before I finally got into this one. However, I think I ended up liking it more than TWILIGHT in the end. One reason it took me a while to get into was because Bella's whining and depression was really getting on my nerves. It got better after she and Jacob really started hanging out. However, I'm not very crazy about Stephenie Meyer's writing style. It is poor and lacks good technique, in my opinion. Plus, some of her characters annoy me. The main ones, for that matter. Bella and Edward just don't have much personality and there isn't any real legitimate or logical reason for their love. Bella is just too obsessed with Edward. On the plus side, Jacob saved the story. At least he has some personality. There was also nearly always something going on that held my attention. Still not to sure why I like these books, though. I guess you could say Stephenie Meyer is junk food for the brain. Not good for you, but fun just the same. Every now and then, you don't want to eat your vegetables, but instead grab a bag of chips.

Rumors by Anna Godbersen
Rating: 5 Stars
This was an amazing follow up sequel (2nd) to The Luxe series by Anna Godbersen! It told the tale of Elizabeth's fate as well as Penelope and Diana's choices, and the sneaky maid of Elizabeth's who is on her own! Still with a lot of drama, and gossip, it's just great!

The Luxe by Anna Godbersen
Rating: 5 Stars
This book is well written for characters from the past, facing drama, gossip, and many other problems. Characters like Elizabeth face issue's like back-stabbing friends, and mothers who chose your husband behind your back! All things take a twist for the worst, when Elizabeth makes a choice, or does she? Great book!

The Skin I'm In by Sharon Flake
Rating: 5 Stars
This was a great book! It showed the difficulties the African American society/community would face. Being smart, wearing hand-made clothes, and being one of the darkest students in the school is one way you wouldn't fit in, and is what the character in this book faces! But, when a new teacher comes along, the balance of school's rude behavior, and constant teasing and fights might all be shook up for good! Great book!

The Adoration of Jenna Fox by Mary E. Pearson
Rating: 5 Stars
I loved this book! It was the strangest book I've ever read! Jenna wakes up from a long coma, to find herself not remembering anything about herself or her friends/family. This book takes place in the future so they have a lot of technology. Anyway, Jenna slowly gets her memory back but remembers more of her life at a younger age then a normal person would! Like her baptism, for example. Slowly, she realizes that she is not human! So as you can see, the story just gets better and better, with of course a classical sad twist! So you should read this book!

This book is great! It demonstrates how things aren't impossible, and although you may seem like you can't fit in anywhere, you will always have a place if you stay true to your friends.
