The Art of Racing in the Rain by Garth Stein
Rating: 4 Stars
I really enjoyed this 'dog'-narrated book; in fact, I interrupted another dog story (THE STORY OF EDGAR SAWTELLE) to read it. I particularly loved the parts when Enzo was most being a dog and enjoying 'racing in the rain'.

Whitney
What My Girfriend Doesn't Know by Sonya Sones
Rating: 3 Stars
It was a pretty good book. I like how all of Sonya Sones's books are laid out like poems. It makes them a lot easier to read. This book is more for guys because it's from a guy's point of view and talks about things that we all know guys are thinking about in there minds, lol. Anyway, overall, I liked it.

Katiana
The Earth, My Butt, and Other Big Round Things by Carolyn Mackler

The Catcher in the Rye by J. D. Salinger
Rating: 5 Stars
The book is very interesting from the start til the very last page. It shows that education is very important to society. I can't say anything negative about the book because it was brilliant!

Addy
Coffehouse Angel by Suzanne Selfors
Rating: 4 Stars
This is Suzanne Selfors's lastest book and I think it's just as good as her debut novel! It's about a girl who is trying to find herself and when she gives a homeless guy who is passed out behind her grandmother's coffeshop, he turns out to be a messenger and will not leave untill he fulfills her utmost desire. It's really good :)

Sietta
Shade's Children by Garth Nix
Rating: 5 Stars
Great book. It was really unique and I cried at the end, it was so sad.

Christine
The Kite Runner by Khaled Hosseini
Rating: 5 Stars
In this coming-of-age tale, the author eloquently tales the tale of his journey through life. The book is throughly enrapturing and really grabs the reader's attention. This book is moving allowing the reader to squirm in their seat at the cruelty but yet rejoice at the love. Through all of this the reader is left with an unforgettable memory.

Rebecca B.
Cheating at Solitare by Ally Carter
Rating: 5 Stars
This book is actually an adult book but there's nothing bad in it and a teen will enjoy it. It's about a women who is a fomous author of self help books for single women. but when pictures of her and a handsome new actor show up in magazines her credability is questioned, but she's not going down unless the actor goes down with her. Great book for anyone who likes romantic comedies. A really fun and sweet book

Rebecca B.
Cross My Heart And Hope To Spy by Ally Carter
Rating: 5 Stars
This is the 2nd book in the Gallagher Girls series and my personal fave even though I love all of them. After Cammie is forced to break up with her first boy friend Josh all cammie want's is a peaceful semester but that's easier said then done when you're a CIA legacy at a school for spies. in this book we meet a new guy Zach, who like Josh will still your heart. It is an amazing book and very "clean" --- Ally Carter is an amazing author!

When the Wind Blows by James Patterson
Rating: 5 Stars
This book is amazing! I haven't read the Maximum Ride series but, apparently this is a different take on that story by the same author. He also wrote the sequel to it, called THE LAKE HOUSE (also an amazing book). I'm pretty sure these books were written for adults but I loved them and so will other teens.

Sydnee D
Rampant by Diana Peterfreund
Rating: 5 Stars
This book was amazing.Fans of fantasy would absolutely enjoy it

Andrea
Geek Love by Katherine Dunn
Rating: 4 Stars
I am half-way through this book that has been on my to-read list for years. I was afraid it wouldn't live up to all the praise I've heard over the years, but thankfully the book fully lives up to the hype; it's easy to see how it has become a cult classic over the years.

Some books pull you in with great use of language or a compelling plot; while "Geek Love" is certainly not lacking in these qualities, I would say its greatest strength lies in some damn fine storytelling.

Sandra F.
Pride and Prejudice and Zombies by Jane Austen and Seth Grahame-Smith
Rating: 4 Stars
At first I thought this book was a waste of time, but it turned out to be a very funny adaptation of PRIDE AND PREJUDICE.

Rating: 5 Stars
A fantastic debut novel, Sarah Ockler has skill. She's got a Sarah Dessen vibe to her writing, and you can't go wrong with that. Fantastic story and character development.

Brittany
Crash into Me by Albert Borris
Rating: 4 Stars
It was ok. Not my favorite book but enjoyable enough to pass the time.

Rebecca B.
Seven Tears Into The Sea by Terri Farley
Rating: 5 Stars
When Gwen was 10 years old she went sleep walking down to the beach where she met a strange boy with dark slightly tilted eyes he came to her, whispered stange words in her ear, and then disappeared into the sea. Shortly after that Gwen and her family moved. Now 7 years later Gwen has returned her nana asked her to come stay for the summer. But Gwen knows there's another reason why she came, she yearns for the Sea. Perhaps the sea itself is calling her. Perhaps the memory of the boy and his haunting words are drawing her back. Perhaps it's time for her to face her destiny.

This is an AMAZING book I love it! It mixes Celtic legands into the present day. It's well written and very entertaining, one you'll read again and again, I know I have. You will fall in love with Jesse and never want the book to end. It's just a really good "clean" book. ages 13 and up

I really enjoyed the characters and the plot of this book, but I think Dessen has written better. The beginning didn't capture my attention and get me hooked like most Sarah Dessen books. But the story was good overall, and I do recommend it to others.

The main character is Kaitlyn and she is awesome. This book is the sequel and it continues the relationship between her an Ashton, the boy she met while going to school for a short time. Well school's over for her because she has moved on to making a movie by the famous Hutch Adams! But she had no idea it would be soo hard. Especially working with Skye (she's back!) and her ex- Drew. Very exciting.

Lab

Peace, Love, and Baby Ducks by Lauren Myracle
Rating: 5 Stars
The book was very heartwarming. It's about two sisters who are as different as possible: Carly, who's as skinny as a model and totally into hippy music and being green, and Anna --- who's definitley grown into a new curvy and busty girl --- isn't the cute little Anna she once was. And with Carly and Anna both going their seperate ways, they realize they aren't close anymore. But that will have to change.

Rosie
Words to Live By by C.S. Lewis

I've been reading this as a devotional book because of its many different topics, and I agree with so much of what it says, not always on a religious level, but very often on a purely philosophical level.

Rosie
The Painted Veil by W. Somerset Maugham
Rating: 4 Stars
I sincerely believe that this is one of the best books I have ever read, notwithstanding the fact that I have to write a research paper on it. The circularness of Kitty's character, her growing strength, and her life with both Walter and Charlie --- two very different men who do very different things to help or hinder her --- is captivating.

Edith G.

Short and sweet book!

My Sister's Keeper by Jodi Picoult
Rating: 5 Stars
The reason for my choosing of this book was only because of the fact that it was made into a movie. I believe that every book made into a movie should be amazing, but I'm often disappointed. This book however, didn't disappoint me at all. It was very deep and touching and made me cry and feel everything going on in the book. The author alternates points of view, which I think is great because the reader gets to know each character's thoughts. MY SISTER'S KEEPER is about Kate, a girl with leukemia who doesn't have a matched donor, and also her sister Anna, who was conceived to become a donor for Kate. All her life, Anna has had to go to the hospital to get blood drawn for Kate, get her bone marrow taken out for Kate, and now her parents ask her to donate one of kidneys for Kate. It is known that this kidney will not make Kate healthy again, but only give her maybe a few more years to live until one of her other organs fail her. Anna was never asked by her parents if she wanted to donate anything. She loves her sister, but she also wants to be free of all of this pressure and pain. This results in Anna finding herself a lawyer and suing her parents for the rights of her own body and its parts. The family must go through this together, but also seperately. It is a rough time for them all, but also a time when they gain understanding for each other and realize how much they need each other. I highly recommend this book to teenagers to adults. I'm confident that every reader will love this book as I did.

She expects to be here a year, keep a diary of everything that's happened, and release it as a tell all for a comeback onto the scene. Things didn't go as planned when she soon finds love, friends, and family in a normal life. Is she willing to give up fame and glamour for a life of simplicity?

Run Like Jager by Karen Bass
Rating: 4 Stars
Kurt Schreiber is a Canadian high school student who came to Germany to study for a year. Along the way he hopes to find out more of his family history, particularly about his grandfather who participated in World War II. But the truth is sometimes hard to hear. Kurt is a believable high school student with a voice that is strong and distinctive. As he delves back into the past, the author presents real life historical events and makes them jump off the page for the reader. Anyone can read about the battles during the war, but Ms. Bass makes it seem as if you were there, which brings home the point. The book also explores the feelings felt by those who are descended from people who fought these wars over fifty years ago. The central question that Kurt finds himself wondering is, what makes a man a monster? I thoroughly enjoyed this book for presenting these issues in all their shades of gray.

Evelyn
Shutter Island by Dennis Lehane
Rating: 5 Stars
SHUTTER ISLAND was a very great book...I started reading it because I saw the trailer for the movie. It's about two U.S. Marshalls sent to an island which houses a mental institution that uses radical treatments to study the patients. But the U.S. Marshalls learn that they may be on the island for another reason and may not be able to leave. There's this HUGE twist at the end that leaves you staring at the book in confusion and amazement after finishing it!! I loved it and can't wait for the movie now!

Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen
Rating: 4 Stars
I absolutely loved PRIDE AND PREJUDICE. I had to read it for school and thought I would hate it. But once I got into it, I loved it! It's actually a really nice (well-written, except for spelling mistakes if you get an "original" edition), lighthearted romance book. It surprised me!

This book is the second book in the trilogy. It is amazing because it has twist and turns I would have never seen coming. I could not put this book down. The first book was good too but this one was the best in my opinion. I am about to start the third one. I hope for the best =D.

The Amazing Maurice and His Educated Rodents by Terry Pratchett
Rating: 4 Stars
With a title like that, how could it not be entertaining? Terry Pratchett is a marvelous writer, and this book, while aimed towards younger readers than most of his books, is a fair representation of his work. The plot is clever, the characters are fun, and the book is quite funny. Read it.

The Big Picture by Jenny B. Jones

Fantasticly funny!

Rosie
Princess Lessons by Meg Cabot
Rating: 4 Stars
Its hard to rate this book, because its certainly more of a manual then actual reading material. However, I would have to say that most of the information inside is very, very relevant to a teenager's life, even if some of it - course lists for future princesses, for example - are not. The narrative voices are interesting for the most part, and Princess Mia's comments tend to be interesting and shed a nice light on certain subjects, bringing them closer to those of use who do not necessarily have to worry about seating Communists with Anarchists.

Samantha
City Of Bones by Cassandra Clare

Im only on the 3rd chapter and I cant put it down because it's so awesome. The author provides so much detail about the main characters, and it's like the books invites you in, and you cant put it down.

AMAZING. This book was incredible. Barry writes about a young boy named Josh, who had...an inappropriate relationship with his history teacher, Eve, who tricked him into believing it was love. Flashing to the present, Josh, in his senior year, hears about Eve's parole, and it brings back all the memories from 7th grade year, where we get the full story from the source.

Great Expectations by Charles Dickens
Rating: 3 Stars
I have a "classics" list that I want to finish before I graduate and this was among the 83 books on it. For a classic, it's actual not too bad, though the sheer length of it makes the writing style seem more unentertaining.

The book was very good-pleasantly written in a very lyrical style. The plot was completely original, and was a satisfying read.

PJ
Troy by Adele Geras
Rating: 5 Stars
This is a retelling of THE ILIAD of Homer in a novel form. If you are studying THE ILIAD in school (as I am) it really helps to read this book because it offers the same story from a different perspective. For instance, you get to hear for Xanthe, who is Lady Andromanche's maid and Astyanax's nanny (not sure if that's the right word). You also get the viewpoint of Hektor and other Trojans. There aren't many battle scenes, mostly the characters talk about the battle but, not in the droning tone of Homer. All in all, it is a really good read.

Alexandria
Elsewhere by Gabrielle Zevin
Rating: 5 Stars
This story was very weird but quite entertaining. It is a new way to look at death and heaven and you could quite possibly end up not being so scared of death. This book also includes love, loss, and happy beginnings.

Stephanie
The Other Boy by Hailey Abbott

It was a book that you could read over and over again when you are depressed. It is plainly cute, fluffy, and romantic.

Stephanie
Two-Way Street by Lauren Barnholdt
Rating: 4 Stars
Yet another book to be read over and over. This one was more emotional and anticipating than others though. It was adorable, however. The two main characters and their point of views were funny and cute!

Manessa
My Sister's Keeper by Jodi Picoult
Rating: 5 Stars
This book is great ! It actually made me cry at the end. The way the author detailed the plot from each characters point of view was genius. Especially at the end, where Anna's point of view finishes and her fathers takes over, and describes the accident; he is called upon to attend, which in fact its his own daughter who is the victim. It added a great suppense ! Not to mention how its Anna who actually dies at the end & saves her sister's life . That book was wonderful from begining to end.

Rating: 5 Stars
This was a great book about a girl, Zara, who is sent to live with her grandmother after the death of her father (stepfather). Zara is sure she is being stalked by a mysterious man. However, things soon turn a little bit wilder than she imagined as she is thrust into a world of pixies and werewolves. You'll love it! I know I did.

Sarha
The Secret Swan by Shana Abe
Rating: 5 Stars
This was an amazing historical romance contaning betrayal, misconseption, an the true meaning of marriage. I could not put this book down. It shows how much spouses have to have respect for each other and life isn't all about greed and you will be caught if you try to pull of a horrible lie effecting two lifes....Not is it only a romance novel, it also has mystery and a lot of action. I recommend this books to all romance lovers!!

Revealers by Amanda Marrone
Rating: 4 Stars
I'm a fan of sci-fi and fantasy books with a hint of reality, and this book fits that description so I really like it. It's about a group of girls who are witches/revealers who are powerful in a lot of ways yet are still teenagers so they struggle with a big secret that is to be revealed when they turn 18 and are inducted to their coven's inner circle, where the secrets and the life they thought they knew is turned upside down.

The Sweet Far Thing by Libba Bray
Rating: 4 Stars
THE SWEET FAR THING is the final book in the Gemma Doyle trilogy. I don't often re-read books, but this is one of my favorites. Mystery, suspense, romance, magic, the lot of it, and an oh-so-frequent metaphor: the corset.

Hayley is smart and witty and has such a pretty . . . face. And life is so much more than one-size-fits-all. Gotta love this book !
