Dear Readers,
A funny thing happened last week. I had a ton of work so, you know, a good 2 or 3
hours of procrastination was needed. After I replaced the Power Puff Girls stickers around
my monitor with SpongeBob SquarePants scratch-n-sniffs (don't even ask what they smell
like), I decided to read some teen mail. See, recently the Talkback@teenreads.com mail was re-routed to my
mailbox --- no, not just because I have the attentions span of toddler and need
endless diversions, but because I care.
Anyway, when I opened the Talkback mailbox, I had over 2000 messages. At first I thought,
"They love me, the Teenreaders really love me!" I thought better about that and
decided I had a mailbox full of hate mail. Then I noticed that the dates on the messages
went back as far as September 2000. Hmmm, thought I, something is not quite right about
that.
As it turned out, something went terrible wrong with the routing of the Talkback@teenreads.com mailbox, and NONE of the
messages ever got to either Serena or myself over the past year. We tried our best to go
through all the messages and write back. (**Note, cruel and unjust as it may seem, we
really can't do your school assignments for you. Feel free to send us notes like "I
have a paper on Romeo and Juliet due in two days, can you tell me everything you know
about the book?" --- but be prepared to get as a reply something like, "Read the
book!!")
Most likely we won't have a chance to go through every single old message. However, we
promise to write back to you from now on. The mailbox fiasco has been straightened out. Talkback@teenreads.com is back in business!
Christen our new and improved mailbox and drop us a hello.
