Sami Granger is ready to make it big in fashion when she steps off the bus from Elk Lake, MN. She wants to design clothes and knocks on every door she can think of in New York to start her dream. The only job she can find, however, is for a reception at Ted Fromme Fashions. She even thinks Bruce Jamison, her new boss and boyfriend, is going to help her get some of her designs made! She also finds new friends in roommate Rain and hunky neighbor Vin. Things are definitely looking up! But then Bruce shows a dark side, and Sami has to rely on her real friends and talents to make her dreams come true.
RIPPED AT THE SEAMS is the latest in a series of romantic comedies from Simon Pulse. But at 326 pages, this work has a lot to offer. Supporting cast members such as Sami's old high school friend Celia and lingerie boutique owner Lola will be enjoyed by readers, as well as Sami herself and other main characters. The plot of Sami's fashion design dreams are at center stage too, a refreshing change from many romantic comedies where the girl loses herself in search for a guy.
Readers may correctly predict what will happen to Sami at the beginning of the story, but many surprises keep the plot moving to the end. Her initial failures are realistic for the cutthroat fashion design business, and if the turnaround is somewhat fantasy-like, readers won't complain.
