Sixteen-year-old Joseph (Seph) McCauley seems to have a charmed life: the opportunity to travel around the world, a fine education, access to great parties, plenty of friends and the attention of pretty girls who can’t resist his good looks, which include his unusual color-changing eyes. While the fringe benefits are nice, Seph is frustrated by being constantly on the move. He longs to find a place to call home and discover who he really is.
Orphaned as an infant, Seph was raised by a foster mother named Genevieve LeClerc, whose fierce devotion protected Seph from others and himself as his unusual gifts took shape. After Genevieve passed away three years earlier, Seph discovered that he had a legal guardian and a substantial trust fund. Unfortunately, Seph still hasn’t discovered his true past nor has he been able to develop and control his gifts, which cause him serious trouble --- and a trail of magical accidents --- that results in his expulsion from several exclusive schools.
After a strange encounter with a wizard named Alicia leads to a tragic fire at an after-hours party in Toronto, Seph’s legal guardian/lawyer sends him to Havens, an all boys’ school secluded deep in the wilderness. Although reluctant at first, Seph sees this as a chance for some stability in his life. However, when he meets the headmaster, Dr. Gregory Leicester, and arrives at the school, he can’t help but feel uneasy. As he makes friends and enemies, Seph realizes that this isn’t a normal school but is in fact a front for wizards. Unfortunately, Seph doesn’t find the type of magical training he desperately has been seeking and is soon trapped in a horrific nightmare at the hands of Leicester himself, who is determined to have Seph join him --- along with a group of students called the Alumni --- on an ultimate quest for power, regardless of the consequences.
However, Seph McCauley has a formidable group of allies on his side, which include the Enchanter Linda Downey, her Warrior nephew Jack Swift and the wise Wizard Nicodemus Snowbeard. There is a storm brewing in the air and battle lines have been drawn, but Seph may still face an uncertain future with or without the answers to his shadowed past.
THE WIZARD HEIR --- the action-packed, magical and emotionally charged companion to THE WARRIOR HEIR --- will hardly disappoint readers as they unearth more secrets surrounding the mysterious world of the Weir and the Roses.
